A big shoutout to these senior leaders who are moving on shortly. Both LTGEN Keating, (outgoing Chief of Defence Force) and WO1 Broughton, (outgoing Warrant Officer of the Defence Force) have been strong supporters of the during their tenure at the top. Gentlemen, thank you for your interest, engagement and backing in preparing New Zealand’s successful leaders of tomorrow. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkWVxyRlbZJ/

The end of 2017 saw the NZCF presented with an award for the 'Best Significant Safety Initiative' from the Directorate of Safety for the NZDF.

We were presented the award for developing a robust system for the Management of NZCF Safety Related Events; but the creation of the safety system also saw all elements of the NZCF (Regular Force, Civilian, Reserve Force and NZCF Officers) working in unison to achieve a great outcome for the organisation and its members- one team, one focus!!

To scoop the award the initiative had to meet the following criteria,
a. Addresses an NZDF-wide significant risk,
b. Reduces the opportunity for accident or harm,
c. Increases the safety knowledge or awareness of others and contributes to achieving NZDF outputs, and
d. Strengthens the safety culture within the NZDF.

It was noted that the system was robust and that with relevant training and resources, the system is also transferrable to other NZDF units with similar issues. The lessons learned by NZCF have been shared with Headquarters Joint Forces New Zealand (HQJFNZ) who are considering implementing it now into their planning processes.
