Waitara East School Welcome to Waitara East School. We believe that the tamariki at our Kura are the heart of everything we do.

We are a bilingual school offering level 2 Te Reo immersion as well as
English medium classes.

Here’s some snippets of what our Garden Club have been up to over the last 3 weeks. The plants and vegetables have had some good growth thanks to the recent rain and sunshine.

Tamariki have had the usual watering, weeding, planting and harvesting going on. They have learnt to use stakes and twine to support beans and peas.

Over the next week some of our classes along with the Gardening Club will be creating and installing new garden beds
to fill with more green goodness.

The weather cleared up just in time for us to host St John Bosco for Interschool Sports today. Great sportsmanship was shown from both schools and a great day was had.

Our Rugby Team came away with a win. Our Soccer and Netball Teams gave it their all with St John Bosco taking wins in these categories.

We had some individual wins in Chess with St John Bosco winning overall.

Well done to all Tamariki who played with Mana while representing our Kura!

Some of our Senior Classes are currently involved in the Wonder Project Rocket Challenge. An 8 week STEM program where Tamariki design, build and launch water rockets.

Yesterday they had their first launch and over the next few weeks Tamariki can discuss and plan ways to improve their next launch. Week 8 will see their final blast off! 🚀

Tamariki have had to work as a team bringing together creativity, problem solving and amazing engineering skills.

We are very grateful to have Fletcher as our Ambassador and Cadet Engineer offering support and guidance to our very own Waitara East Rocket Engineers. Thanks Fletcher!

It was a Sea of Pink today at Waitara East!

Spreading kindness one pink shirt at a time! At Waitara East we’re choosing to be ‘Upstanders!’ We speak up, we support each other, we show kindness!

Yesterday our Rippa Teams played in the North Taranaki Rippa Rugby Tournament. Our three teams gave it their all and had a great day on the field. Our competition team were placed 3rd. Well done to all Tamariki who played!

Friday May 15th is ‘Pink Shirt Day’ where the Nation makes a stand against bullying and show how to be an upstander.

We encourage Tamariki to wear Pink tomorrow to support this kaupapa. Let’s be kind, let’s be caring and let’s wear a Sea of Pink at Waitara East 🩷
