👋 New Zealand's annual test of the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system will be sent on Sunday 14 June between 6pm-7pm to all capable phones and other SIM-connected devices.

⚠️ This test makes sure the EMA system works as it should nationwide, and helps keep you safe during future emergency events.

❗ If you have a hidden phone for your personal safety, or the sound of the alert affects your physical or mental health in any way, we recommend turning off any devices with a SIM connection between 6-7pm on Sunday 14 June, or putting them into flight mode.

👉📱 You can mute the sound of the alert by pressing the volume button on the side of your phone – this mutes the sound of the EMA while leaving the message on screen for you to read in full.

Today marks the start of National Volunteer Week!!!

As the Chief Fire Officer I am extremely grateful for our team of volunteers who drop everything in your time of need to help.

Behind every Volunteer there is a team that also needs to be acknowledged and thanked. Partners, families, friends and employers who support our volunteers to be able to do what we do.

Without volunteers there is no emergency service, so THANK YOU to those that give up your time.

🚨 Scooter Seeking Its Sole Mate 🛴🔥

This little ride has wheeled itself outside our station and appears to be suffering from a serious case of owner separation anxiety.

We’ve checked — it’s not reporting a fire, it’s not here for training, and thankfully it didn’t arrive by emergency response… although it was parked a little too close to our “hot wheels.” 🚒😅

If this scooter belongs to you, please contact the station before it gets recruited into the brigade and starts asking for bunker gear and a pager.

Proof of ownership required — preferably more convincing than “yeah mate, that’s definitely my scooter.” ( na we have left it by the sign)

Please share so we can help reunite this runaway with its rider before it gets tyred of waiting. 🛴💨

Happy International Firefighters Day!!!

Legend says that during his life Saint Florian put out a massive fire with only one bucket of water, saving a village from ruin. Saint Florian is often depicted in artwork pouring water from a bucket or small vessel.

Legend also has it that the Waitarere Volunteer Fire Brigade are Recruiting Now. We need more volunteers contact us for more information!!!!!

E kore rātou e kaumātuatia
Pēnei i a tātou kua mahue nei
E kore hoki rātou e ngoikore
Ahakoa pehea i ngā āhuatanga o te wā
I te hekenga atu o te rā
Tae noa ki te aranga mai i te ata
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou.
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou.

They shal grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shal not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them. We will remember them.
