We'd like to acknowledge the recent, tragic passing of local John McCulloch as we share his valued connection, and generous contribution to the Wallacetown Community Centre.

Always giving of his time, John was the architect behind this truly multi-purpose venue we all call the Wallacetown Community Centre. Officially opened on 25 March 1998, this versatile facility has now served the community for more than 26 years and will continue to be a lasting reminder of John's legacy well into the future, with the care of the community.

As you'll hear from John in the video, "any facility that encourages people to get involved in sport has gotta be good!". Over the years, many a sporting and social event have been held at the Centre - we will forever be grateful for his time, architectural expertise and wider community role John played getting this place up and running.

Our condolences go out to Anne, Jethro, Amber, and John's wider family and friends for their loss.

Every few years this video resurfaces and serves as a reminder of what our community can do when the people pull together. Now it also serves as a poignant reminder of the community man that was John McCulloch.

As remembered of late; "He was a good bu**er!"

Thanks Southland's Past -Te Wāmua o Murihiku for keeping the memories alive.
