What could we make happen together in Snells Beach?
At our recent interactive community hui on May 26, Snells locals shared ideas about young people, connection, community spaces, the future of the town centre, and ways to strengthen community life.

Project ideas:
We know not everyone could be there - so if you have an idea that could help make Snells Beach an even better place to live, we'd love to hear from you.
Projects can be big or small. They might bring people together, support young people, create community spaces, improve local connections, or help strengthen neighbourhood life.

We’re proud to be celebrating Matariki across Rodney - and we’d love you to be part of it!

Matariki is a time to get together with family and friends, reflect on the past year and plan for the future. Its also a time to remember your loved ones who have past in the last year.

If your school, community group, or local organisation is organising a public event - we’re inviting you to share the details on our Matariki Calendar. This is a simple webpage set up to share events so that others can find something nearby to attend. Whether its a workshop, shared kai, art project, river clean-up, performance, exhibition… if you'd like us to share the details, please go to this link or get in touch with us.

This is the first of two final events as part of our project: Snells Beach Community Conversations.

26 MAY: Community Hui - We’re sharing what we’ve heard from the community during our Pop-Up Conversations. Hear what your community has been talking about and what we can make happen together for the future of Snells Beach. Come see the vision and stay for supper.

Final event is on 11th June where we will vote on which projects to support and fund.

23rd May 2026: A+Music Wellsford presents Rockstars!
This past Saturday, the Wellsford community enjoyed another awesome night of free, live music thanks to Martin and his team. The evening was a celebration of music and community and a chance for students of the A+ Music Band Sessions to show off what they had learned during a month of free performance workshops for NZ Music Month. They did not disappoint! We would like to congratulate them all for putting in the hard work and getting up on stage in front of everyone. Musicians of all ages were on stage and for some this was their first time performing live. They should be proud of themselves! Thanks to all those involved, we know it takes a lot of behind the scenes hours to create a night like this.

It was also so great to see the Wellsford community there to support and cheer on their friends and family. We hope to see lots more of this, Wellsford is not short on musical talent and the Wellsford Community Centre is the perfect venue for live performance.

This event was part of a calendar of events for NZ Music Month Wellsford. Last Friday, locals were invited to try a DJ lesson with DJ Damo as part of the Off the Shelf series at Wellsford Library

Don't forget: we have one more Off the Shelf event at Wellsford Library this Friday 3.30pm, and its a good one! Karaoke and Line Dancing.

All of these activities have been made possible thanks to support from Rodney Local Board.
