We've trawled the internet for free & low cost community events around the Rodney area.
Please comment anything we've missed :) These are not our events, so always check with the organisers for any last-minute changes!
Trick or treaters:
Be polite and respectful — some people don’t celebrate Halloween
Best to stick to houses that are decorated or well sign posted and don't disturb houses that have made it clear they are not welcoming trick or treaters or who have their lights off. Let's be mindful of our neighbours :)

Mini Pumpkin Carving Competition
🕔 On now until sold out | Fruit World Waimauku
Mini carving pumpkins are $4 each or 3 for $10. Carve one and show them your design for a chance to win Most Spooky or Most Creative. Winners are drawn on 31 October, and stock is limited.

Halloween Fundraiser Social
🕔 6.30pm–10pm | Dairy Flat Hall, 2 Postman Rd
A line dancing night for all levels, with walk-throughs of the easier dances, raising funds for the hall. Entry is $15 cash only and there's a cash bar. Come in costume or wear black and orange.

Halloween Tunnel Tour Fright Night (night one)
🕔 4.30pm–7.30pm | Helensville Rugby Club
A spooky tunnel tour fundraising for the juniors' 2027 Canterbury tour. It's $5 per tour, come and go anytime, and lights are on for the little ones. There's a sausage sizzle and bake sale (Friday only), plus lollies and glow toys for sale.

Stop by the 186 driveway for a trick or treat.

Halloween Party
🕔 5pm–9pm | Glorit War Memorial Hall, 2995 Kaipara Coast Hwy
Burgers are $5 and chips $3. Wear glow in the dark or your best Halloween outfit. All welcome. Contact 021 232 1281.
📍 HELENSVILLE
Halloween on Cabeleigh
🕔 Time 4:30pm - 7pm | Cabeleigh Drive
Mr Whippy, Raha Espresso Bar, hot food from the Mobile Catering Crew, a Helensville Fire Station fire engine giving out lollies, free candy floss, free balloons and loads of lollies. Lolly donations can be dropped to April at Paper Plus.
Halloween Tunnel Tour Fright Night (night two)

The same spooky fun as Friday, at $5 per tour. Come and go anytime, with lollies and glow toys for sale.

Peak Village Halloween
🕔 From 5pm | Peak Village
Trick or treating starts at 5pm sharp, plus Mr Whippy, a fire truck with lollies and a sausage sizzle. Everyone from the wider Kaukapakapa community is welcome.
Halloween Hoedown
🕔 Time TBC | Shed16 Kaukapakapa
Hosted by Homegrown Line Dancing. Dance, eat, drink and be spooky! The first hour is a beginner line dance class, then a mix of all levels. Tickets are $20 per person.

Halloween Masquerade Ball
🕔 7pm–midnight | Soljans Estate Winery
Hosted by Westie Witches Helping Hands, so bring your crew and your best mask. Tickets are $40 online only, sales close 28 October, and there are no door sales.

Trick or Treat Trail
🕔 5.30pm till dark | Ngatira Rd, Waitea Rd and Edwin Michelson
Follow the decorated route, with a chill-out food zone at the end of Edwin Michelson. Lolly refills are always welcome. Please only visit properties with decorations or a sign on their letterbox.
📍 RIVERHEAD
Riverhead Fright Night
🕔 5pm–7pm | Riverhead streets
Safe trick or treating around town. Look for balloons on letterboxes to find participating houses. Residents can register as a Safe House or Scare House via the QR code or page, or drop treat donations at Riverhead Mini Mart.
📍 SHELLY BEACH
Halloween Movie Night
🕔 6pm–8pm | Shelly Beach Reserve (top reserve, opposite the Fire Station)
Game time is 6–7pm, then the G-rated movie "Halloween Surprise!" runs 7–8pm. Entry is $2 for adults and $1 per child. There are best dressed prizes for under 5s, 6–8 and 9–12 years. No parking outside the Fire Station or on James McLeod Rd. The rain date is 7 November. Volunteers needed: [email protected]
