Trades Academies are 1 or 2 day courses run in partnership with UCOL, Weltec / Whitireia, and Primary ITO. Transport is provided to and from course. When you enrol, you are committing to completing the full course.

Please note spaces are limited; you are considered and accepted on an interview basis. Your attendance and academic records are also considered.

OTIWHITI OPEN DAY

Whether you're ready to take the leap into agriculture or simply curious to learn more, this day is your chance to embark on an exciting journey. Discover our facilities and experience firsthand how we nurture future success. Connect with our welcoming team and inspiring cadets, all eager to share their passion and stories with you.

When: Saturday 7th June
Where: Otiwhiti School of Agriculture, 4744 Turakina Valley Road, RD 2, Hunterville

The Tours will begin at 9am. Morning tea and a chat 10.30am (so that those that need to depart early can)

There will be more tours that start after morning tea if you arrive later.

We encourage you to preregister below or at www.otiwhiti.co.nz before the open day. However, if your circumstances change, you're welcome to register on the day.

Our BCITO Gateway Advanced (L3 Carpentry) students met with Michele from BCITO this week and were given a toolbelt and tools from BCITO in conjunction with NZ Safety Blackwoods. A wonderful gift and start for these students to engage in their pathways.

Along with the toolbelt BCITO is covering driver’s licence fees for all BCITO Gateway students, setting them up for success in the trades. A valid driver’s licence is essential for securing apprenticeships in the building and construction industry, this initiative will help students get one step closer to their career in the trades.

Recently Year 13 students visited Yoobee Wellington Open Day. This was an opportunity for students to see what student life is like at Yoobee College of Creative Innovation. Enabling students to explore all things tech, design, animation, film and digital innovation, while chatting to Yoobee tutors and getting a tour of the campus.

Recently YR13 Māori students and YR12/YR13 Pasifika students had the opportunity to visit Victoria University Kelburn Campus - the purpose of the events was to encourage students to consider tertiary/university education, enable students to familiarise themselves with the campus and gain first-hand experience of university study and potential career options through fun, interactive workshops.

This Term we have had 20 students gain their Learner Drivers Licence. This has been through the Drive Wānanga programme and our REAP Learner Licence Course.

Having a drivers licence significantly increases a young person’s chance of being able to get that all-important first job.
