Welcome to the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand on Facebook. The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand is a progressive political party founded on the Green Charter. We operate based on a set of Values to achieve positive political change for everyone and everything that calls Aotearoa home. We are active at both the central and local government levels as well as playing a role in suppo

rting the formation and growth of Green parties internationally, particularly in the Asia Pacific region. The Party has strong democratic values and empowers its members to make many important decisions, including the election of its leadership, the development of its policy platform, the list ranking of its Parliamentary candidates, and the approval of post-election governing arrangements with other parties. When we invest in our communities and take power away from massive supermarket giants, we can build a food system that puts people before profits.

During the 2023 election the property industry donated almost $2.5 million to National, Act and NZ First.

After the election landlords received a $2.9 billion tax cut. The Government brought back no-cause evictions for renters, and cut thousands of planned public housing builds.

Political donations shouldn't buy policies favourable to the people who can spend up big. Democracy should belong to everyone, not just those with the deepest pockets.

The Green Party will keep fighting to get big money out of politics and put power back where it belongs: in the hands of the people.

The Green Party will invest $2.44 billion into marae through two funds:

🌳 $400 million for immediate needs: Te Rākau Whakarauora will fund urgent priorities over four years, like maintenance and emergency outreach

🌳 $2 billion for generations to come: Te Tōtara Haemata is a sovereign wealth fund, with annual returns supporting long-term marae and community development, while protecting the fund’s capital for future generations.

Because when marae are strong, our communities are stronger 💚🤝
