Wellington City Libraries We are the Wellington City Libraries network of 12 libraries, with our central library located in the beautiful Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui.

Discover books, magazines, eLibrary, movies, music and more, all with your WCL library card. Wellington City Libraries and Community Spaces is 14 libraries and 5 community centres. Our libraries, located in Miramar, Kilbirnie, Island Bay, Newtown, Brooklyn, Wellington C*D, Wadestown, Karori, Ngaio, Khandallah, Johnsonville, and Tawa provide access to hundreds of thousands of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and other items. Our collections include New Zealand's first public zine library collection, music scores, vinyl, along with eBooks, eAudio, streaming movies and eMagazines. 🗞✨ The Capital Times, which described itself as 'Wellington's smart arts weekly', an 'Essential pick-me-up' and 'What's on in Wellington', amongst other things, will soon be coming to Wellington City Recollect! Wellington's beloved weekly free newspaper ran for over 30 years and every single issue will soon be online to browse in full.

Our Heritage Specialist has been working overtime to digitise each and every copy of The Capital Times and we're celebrating with an event to mark the online launch.

🎟👉 Come along to Ngā Pou Ruahine on level two of Te Matapihi Central Library at 5.30pm on Wednesday 28 October for talks and a sneak peek at our latest online collection. Digital copies of the full runs of Agenda and W5 will also be launched on the night.

100 cool ways to use your library card (continued!)

91. Borrow from our Wharetukutuku Māori Lending collection and learn about mātauranga Māori. This collection is shelved according to a custom Māori Classification System, rather than the Dewey Decimal Classification System, which aims to represent how knowledge is organised in Te Ao Māori.

92. We run a variety of events and talks for all ages. Check out our calendar to find cool events, like this week's Thursday event, 'Celebrate International Snow Leopard Day' to hear from Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo Keeper, Rafe Driscoll O'Keefe, and learn about the snow leopards who call Wellington home.

93. Any questions is a nationwide service in Aotearoa where school-age students can live-chat with a librarian (including Wellington City Librarians!) to get help with their schoolwork and study. Available weekdays 10am-3pm during the school year (teachers can also book a session for their class at any time!).

94. If you're looking for a place to study, whether on your own or in a group, visit any of our library branches. All our libraries have copies of NCEA study guides and free WIFI. We will also be arranging some dedicated study zones for the upcoming exams so stay tuned for more information soon.

95. Comics Plus let's you access over 20,000 free and always available comics and manga online. Accessible on any device, just log in with your library card number and PIN.

Join us on the bleachers at 12pm this Thursday to hear Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo Keeper, Rafe Driscoll O’Keefe, talk about Asha and Manju, the two snow leopards who call Pōneke home.
