KiwiClass - Multicultural Support Services - He Amo Taunaki At KiwiClass we support former refugees and migrants in the greater Wellington region whose first language is not English.

At KiwiClass our focus is on helping adults in the Wellington region whose first language is not English through:

- Beginner English courses
- Help in their search for work
- Social services support and casework

Our vision:

That all refugees and other migrants have access to the language development and learning and employment opportunities that they need to achieve their full social and econo

mic potential; and that cultural and linguistic identity are appreciated as strengths to be encouraged, enjoyed and valued. Our purpose:

To provide education and employment pathways for refugees and other migrants for whom English is an additional language and to support activities which maintain cultural and linguistic identity.

On behalf of our students, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Meta for her generous donation of more than 40 beautifully knitted hats. Your kindness arrived at exactly the right time, helping to keep our students warm during the cold Wellington winter. We are truly grateful for your thoughtfulness and support.

πŸ’œ Happy Women's Equality Day! | 26 August 2026πŸ’œ

Today we celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of women everywhere β€” and at KiwiClass, we see that strength in action every single day. 🌟

So many of our learners are women who have left everything behind, rebuilt their lives in a new country, and continue to show up β€” for their families, their communities, and themselves. They are mothers, daughters, caregivers, and future leaders. Their journeys inspire us deeply. πŸ’š

At KiwiClass, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for women's equality. When a woman builds her English skills, she gains confidence, independence, and the ability to access opportunities that were once out of reach β€” in work, in health, in community, and beyond. 🫢

To every woman who has walked through our doors β€” we see you, we celebrate you, and we are proud to be part of your journey. πŸ™

🌟 Student Success Story – Rekha's Journey 🌟

When Rekha moved from Auckland to Wellington in September 2025, she was starting from scratch β€” no local connections, no professional network, and the challenge of communicating confidently in English as someone who grew up in Italy. 🌏

Joining KiwiClass became a turning point in her journey. πŸ’›

Through regular classes, Rekha improved her English, grew more confident understanding New Zealand accents, and learned about Kiwi culture and everyday life β€” helping her feel truly at home in her new community. 🏑✨

With the support of her tutor and our Student Support team, she also strengthened her CV and cover letter writing skills and built confidence in job interviews. πŸ’ͺπŸ“„

We are so proud to share that Rekha has successfully secured a customer-facing role at Mobil Kilbirnie, where she connects with people from all walks of life every day! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³

Rekha's story is a beautiful reminder that with the right support, newcomers can absolutely achieve their employment and language goals in New Zealand. πŸŒ±πŸ’Ό
We are so honoured to be part of her journey, and we cannot wait to see everything she achieves next! ❀️
