A safe place to stay can be the beginning. The support around it can help a woman rebuild her life.

Wellington Women's House e is a 16-bedroom transitional home for wāhine experiencing homelessness. Alongside safe and affordable accommodation, its team provides social support, workshops and opportunities to build skills.

Donations through The Good Registry can help with the practical things that matter: a Snapper top-up to get to work or an appointment, personal care essentials, workshop materials, or homewares when a resident moves into her own home.

Ari, a former resident, says the team helped her pack, arrange transport and move her furniture when she found a home of her own.

Celebrated 34 years of Wellington Women's House today with lots and lots of cake 🎂 we took a moment to celebrate the residents, staff, volunteers, and community who've kept this kaupapa going. Ngā mihi to everyone who's been part of the journey.

We are so grateful to the South African High Commission for the time and generosity they brought to our house today in commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day. Visits like this mean so much to our team and the wāhine we support.

A special thank you to High Commissioner Johnny Sexwale for his kind words, and for sharing his knowledge and insight into the meaning of Nelson Mandela Day with us.

The South African High Commission put together an amazing selection of cleaning products for us to give to our wāhine as they move into their own homes after leaving our service, a practical and thoughtful gesture that will make a real difference.

Mandela Day is held every year on July 18, marking Nelson Mandela's birthday, it calls on people around the world to dedicate 67 minutes to community service, one minute for each year of Mandela's public service.

We're so thankful for this partnership and for everyone who took the time to make it happen 🇿🇦 ❤
