Have you recently received a text or email saying you’re due a tax refund? Phishing messages are designed to look authentic and can be hard to detect. Be on the lookout. Even if it looks convincing, don't click on links, or give out your bank details.

👉 Remember we do not put refund amounts, or links directly to myIR in our emails or texts.

👉 Scam emails may come from an email address or include links that are wrong but look like ours. For example: ird.co.nz, ird.qovt.nz or ird.gov.nz.

👉 To check a link, use your mouse to hover over it. The address will appear in a box or at the bottom of your screen. Make sure the link is correct before clicking on it.

Our correct web address is ird.govt.nz and emails will come from [email protected] or [email protected].

Our system is experiencing significant demand, which is causing issues for some customers logging into myIR.

There may be delays with two-step verification codes being sent and in some cases, codes may arrive late or expire before you can use them — we know this is frustrating and we’re working on a fix.

What you can do:

- Wait until the issue is resolved before trying to log in. We have a banner on our website which will be updated when the issue is fixed.
- Avoid multiple login attempts in a short time - this can lock you out of your myIR account
- You can also log in using RealMe, which is working as expected

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We're working hard to resolve this as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience.

Our offices and phone lines will be closed on Monday 1 June for King's Birthday, reopening for normal business hours on Tuesday 2 June. You can still use myIR and our website over the long weekend, should you need to.

If you receive Working for Families or paid parental leave payments, your payments will not be affected. You will still be paid on your usual day, Tuesday 2 June or Wednesday 3 June, depending on when your bank has processed the payments.

NOTE: You might see in myIR that the processing dates are showing as different to the dates we’ve outlined above. However, this does not change the payment date.

If you have questions or need to get in touch with us over the long weekend, please visit our website or send us a secure message in your myIR account.

It’s Privacy Week and a good time to think about how you can keep your information secure.

To keep your personal information as safe as possible, we've made two-step verification in myIR compulsory. This adds an extra layer of security and makes it harder for an attacker to get into your online accounts.

Here’s how to set it up in myIR – www.ird.govt.nz/myir-help/logging-in/two-step-verification/set-up
