Changemakers Resettlement Forum

Changemakers Resettlement Forum We work towards our vision of New Zealanders from refugee backgrounds participating fully in New Zealand life.

ChangeMakers Resettlement Forum is a grassroots non-governmental
organisation (NGO) walking alongside 18+ refugee background communities

Ever wondered what it's like to seek asylum in New Zealand?
Come and listen to Nigussie!

Nigussie was a social worker in Ethiopia, before working for World Vision in refugee resettlement. Nigussie has been working with and supporting refugees for decades, and now serves as the Vice Chairman of the African Community Council Wellington.

What beautiful smiles! 🤩
And what a good partnership! Anny got her restricted licence a couple of weeks ago with the help of Randall, who has already helped multiple drivers in Masterton.
More than just teaching or learning, the people on our programmes form meaningful connections and share beautiful moments. 🫶

Huge congratulations to Leidy Daniela, our first learner to pass her restricted licence this financial year! She sailed through the test and is excited for the independence and freedom that driving brings. A massive thank you to Luciene, who has supported her every step of the way. Not sure who was more nervous — or more thrilled with the result — but the smiles said it all. 🌞

Huge congratulations to Khatejah, who passed her full licence on the first attempt today.✨
This achievement will make a real difference as she continues her studies in Porirua and supports her brother. A big thank you to our amazing volunteer Joe, who guided her through her restricted licence and was there again for her flawless test today. 😍 Khatejah is our 51st successful driver this year through the Driving for Inclusion Programme — none of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers. 💚

World Refugee Day 2026 - Wellington Region

Held in Upper Hutt, Wellington.

This year's theme:
"Until Everyone is Safe"

The event brought communities, NGOs, Government agencies, and Service Providers together to promote inclusivity, as well as to connect and celebrate cultural diversity, resilience, humanity, and human dignity.

This year's event also marked seventy-five years of formal recognition of Refugee status and twenty-five years of commemorating and celebrating the "World Refugee Day"

[A day for us all to think about the essence of humanity].

Thank you all for your contributions, and for making today a wonderful gathering.
