Your donations ensure our teams can provide nationwide air ambulance services and the Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter. For over 20 years, the BK-117 Westpac Rescue Helicopter was there for our community. It helped everyone from critically ill babies in Masterton to trampers experiencing medical emergencies in the remote bush.

Last year we said goodbye to this wonderful machine, and hello to our new H145 Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

As our Air Ambulance plane flew past Mount Taranaki in the night, Crewperson Alex snapped this photo. On board, she, her crew, and the Hospital Flight team were caring for a young adult with a serious brain injury - making sure they reached the help they urgently needed.

Brain injuries require special medical care and careful air pressure management, so our planes are equipped to keep the cabin pressure at sea level, ensuring the journey is as safe and comfortable as possible.

Thanks to your support, the patient made it safely to the care they needed, and we’re delighted to share they’re now happy and thriving. This is just one of the many lives your kindness and generosity have helped ❤️

This week, our Waikato-based air ambulance crew transported a patient from Rotorua to North Shore Hospital, ensuring they received the specialist care they needed.

These stunning photos capture Life Flight Aircraft on the apron in Rotorua and on approach into Auckland, with Venus shining brightly in the background. While most of the city was asleep, our crew was in the air, providing critical care and connecting patients with life-saving treatment.

It was an early morning flight for the Westpac Chopper crew along with Wellington Hospital Flight Team - someone in Whanganui urgently needed medical care.

In no time, they were airborne, helping the 14th patient flown by a Life Flight aircraft in less than 24 hours. Each of those flights represents a life cared for, a family supported, and a community helped.

It’s your support that keeps our six nationwide Air Ambulance Planes and Wellington-based Westpac Chopper ready to respond. Because of you, over a dozen people received critical care in just one day. On behalf of our crew and patients—thank you.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone in New Zealand receives the life-saving care they need, wherever and whenever they need it.

A big part of making that possible is training – and yesterday was a beautiful day for it!

As the only fixed wing aeromedical service currently able to land in Taumaranui, the Life Flight Air Ambulance crew routinely carry out training sessions to ensure they have the skills to safely land on Taumaranui’s short grass runway. ✈️

It takes a team to get the Westpac Chopper ready to help someone in need 🚁

Critical Care Paramedic James snapped this behind-the-scenes shot showing one of the first steps before every mission: moving the chopper out of the hangar.

Thanks to the generosity of Kubota New Zealand, our crew uses a tractor to carefully tow the chopper onto the apron

Once in place, the pilot fires up the engines, and the ACO runs through all the vital safety checks—making sure everything is ready for take-off.

🐝 Looking for a fun and free school holiday activity?

Bee curious and explore Bee in the City Wellington, Life Flight's giant public art sculpture trail in Pōneke Wellington, created in Partnership with Wild in Art and presented by Mills-Albert Limited.

From now until 8 November, families can discover 30 giant artist-transformed bee sculptures and 20 community bees across the Wellington C*D. Download the free map app to collect bees, unlock sweet rewards, and turn a walk around the city into a buzzing adventure.

Prefer paper? Pick up a printed trail map from The Enormous Crocodile Bike and Shake Shop off Herd St and start exploring at your own pace.

Best of all, every bee discovered helps support a bigger cause. At the end of the trail, the giant sculptures will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Life Flight, helping keep lifesaving air services flying when they're needed most.

Wellington is officially buzzing 🐝

Bee in the City Wellington has transformed Wellington into a giant outdoor art gallery for the next eight weeks!

From 14 September to 8 November, more than 30 giant bee sculptures designed by Kiwi artists, alongside 20 community bees created by local schools and groups, will pop up across Wellington for a free, family friendly art trail.

It is such a cool excuse to get out and explore the city, discover some incredible artwork and see Wellington from a slightly different perspective.

Even better, it is all for a very important cause. At the end of the trail, the giant bees will be auctioned on 26 November to raise vital funds for Life Flight Trust and its lifesaving 24/7 services.

We cannot wait to spot them all around town. Who’s going bee hunting? 🐝
