Yesterday, First Secretary Niuone Eliuta met with Mr. Khameis Al Zeyoudi, Head of the Economic, Political and Media Affairs Section at the UAE Embassy, to discuss the positions of the United Arab Emirates and Tuvalu following Iran’s attack on the UAE, as well as Tuvalu’s concerns regarding this unjustified war.

A special homecoming in Christchurch!
Yesterday, on Thursday 25 March, Prime Minister the Hon. Feleti Penitala Teo returned to his old school, St Andrew’s College.

The Prime Minister received a sincere and heart-warming welcome from the staff and students. In his own words, St Andrew’s is “a place that shaped the man he is today and holds a very special place in his heart.”

As a proud old boy (Class of 1982), PM Teo was the College Dux and also the top scorer for the school’s football team. It was a joyful moment for him to walk the familiar grounds once again.
During his visit, the Prime Minister delivered powerful remarks on the global climate crisis and highlighting the strong actions Tuvalu and his Government are taking both at home and on the international stage to confront this urgent challenge.

On Tuesday 24 March, Prime Minister the Hon. Teo and his delegation held a meaningful dialogue with the Tuvaluan diaspora living in the South Island. The event took place at the Cardboard Cathedral Hall in Christchurch.
The gathering brought together mainly members of the Tuvalu Tagata Otautahi community, as well as leaders and representatives from other Tuvaluan communities across the South Island. It provided a valuable opportunity for Tuvaluans living in the region to speak directly with the Prime Minister and openly raise their concerns, especially on issues that affect them personally while living in New Zealand.
During the dialogue, Prime Minister Teo also shared the Government’s key aspirations and current policies with the community.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were Minister Paulson Panapa and Minister Simon Kofe, who actively participated in the exchange.
For the Prime Minister, the meeting was particularly important as it allowed him to hear firsthand the everyday challenges faced by the Tuvaluan diaspora in New Zealand. He expressed interest in finding ways the Tuvalu Government could help minimise or resolve these issues.
