Utilities Disputes | Tautohetohe Whaipainga (known as UDL) provides a free and independent resolution service for complaints about utilities providers.

Free, fast, effective and independent utilities dispute resolution across Aotearoa - sorting complaints between electricity, gas and water providers and consumers. We can look into complaints of providers who have joined our Scheme. Please contact us to talk about any issues or concerns resolving a dispute with a utilities organisation. We can help you work out whether it is something you can make

Jessica recently presented at the Habitat for Humanity New Zealand Home Maintenance Workshop, which supports Māori homeowners and renters.

Felicity and George (and Bonnie the pug) from Utilities Disputes are at VUWSA - Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association Flatting Expo from 11am-2pm today. Pop by and meet our team!

Tēnā koutou to everyone who joined us at our 2026 Annual Forum – Connected Futures!

An inspiring day of sharing ideas, stories, and practical ways to support each other in achieving better outcomes for our organisations and communities.

From conversations around human connection and AI to reflections on complaint handling and energy hardship, there was plenty of valuable kōrero throughout the day. Our Community Engagement Officer, Jessica facilitated a community panel comprised of partners from Contact Energy, Kiwibank, Watercare, DebtManagers NZ, and SEA (Sustainable Energy Advice).

Thank you to everyone who attended and our speakers who shared their insights and gave everyone so much to think about!

Jessica from Utilities Disputes was with many others from local communities in Auckland who gathered to commemorate Kwibuka 32, marking the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Community is about people; building relationships, journeying with communities, and turning up when it matters to them. Our past informs our future - shared understandings and shared memories help us all as we seek to build trust in all our communities.

Jessica recently attended a Manurewa Local Board community event - a great day connecting with dedicated community leaders, organisations, and volunteers making a real difference in their community and inspiring others.

Engaging with people who are deeply committed to supporting the local community is an important part of our mahi so that people know about Utilities Disputes and how we can help them sort utilities complaints.
