Keeping Our ākonga Healthy

Kia ora whānau,

We have had a few cases of head lice reported at kura, as well as seeing lots of tummy bugs, flu and other sickness going around.

Please check your tamariki’s hair and, if you find lice or eggs, treat them before they return to school. We have free head lice treatment lotion available at kura for whānau who need it. Please contact the office if you would like some.

We are reminding our ākonga about the importance of:

Washing their hands regularly, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
Drinking lots of water throughout the day.
Wearing warm clothing and bringing a warm jacket to kura.
Staying home when they are unwell and returning when they are feeling better.

Thank you for helping us keep our tamariki healthy and well during these colder months.

Our tamariki are so lucky to have such beautiful lunches each day. Healthy, nourishing kai helps fuel their learning, supports their wellbeing, and keeps them engaged throughout the day. We are grateful to everyone who helps make this possible for our kura.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Just a little reminder that our disco night starts at 4.30pm tonight for the Teina Rohe.

Please ensure that your tamariki go home after school and then return to school for the disco at 4.30pm.

Please note that there will not be staff available to supervise tamariki before the disco starts.

We look forward to seeing everyone tonight! 💃🕺🎶

Kia ora e te whānau,

Unfortunately, due to the weather, our Teina Zoo trip has been cancelled today. We are unable to reschedule the visit this term, but we will look at organising another trip later in the year if possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

This week, we are holding whānau hui on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th July.
Bookings for these are now open. You can book by going to https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/nf478
Your young person’s midyear report will form the basis of these hui.
These are now available on HERO.

Mt Cook School is a community where belonging, curiosity & creativity matter to us. This upcoming Whānau Hui we would love you to join us in adding to the leaves of our ‘aspirations tree’. This will be a visual record of our shared values, hopes, goals and aspirations for all our Mt Cook ākonga.

Please come by the staffroom before or after your hui to see what leaves have been added to our tree. You can select any of the supplied paper leaf cut-outs you like and go ahead by adding them to the tree. Come be a part of our school wide creative activity gathering our collective aspirations.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Due to the weather, our Teina team will not be going to the zoo today.

A huge thank you to all the whānau who volunteered to join us—we really appreciate your support. We will reschedule this trip for later in the year and will let you know the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.
