Concrete Structure Investigations Ltd

Concrete Structure Investigations Ltd Concrete Structure Investigations Ltd (CSI) carry out reinforcing verification in concrete structures.

CSI technicians have full training in the use of the most advanced Hilti scanners and software. Concrete Structure Investigations access, evaluate and report (directly or indirectly) to professional Consulting Engineers, Building Owners, Councils and Government Institutions on areas of existing reinforcement. The engineers require data and images demonstrating the bar size, cover and location of t

he steel within the concrete structures. Consulting Engineers use CSI reports to evaluate the overall integrity of the building. Concrete Structure Investigations locates the position of existing reinforcing bars in slabs, walls, beams and columns. The information collected enables both reinforcing hit prevention during seismic upgrading of existing buildings and installation of general structural steel connections into concrete components.

Great NDT starts before the scanner switches on.

Understanding the structure, its materials, geometry, load paths, and likely defect zones, is what makes the difference between accurate results and false readings.

It's how we choose the right method, target the right areas, and deliver findings you can actually act on.

How strong is your slab, really? 🏗️

Non-destructive testing (NDT) lets engineers figure out exactly what a concrete slab can handle - without drilling, coring, or damaging the structure.

Our latest blog walks through the full workflow: baseline surveys, material characterisation, strain + deflection monitoring, and what changes when you can only access the slab from above.

A rare construction site in Pompeii is revealing how the Romans made concrete that lasted centuries. While we don’t build like the Romans today, understanding concrete behaviour matters just as much now.

At Concrete Structural Investigations, we help engineers uncover what is beneath the surface of concrete using non-destructive testing, giving them the insight needed to plan safe maintenance, upgrades or repairs.

Head to our website to read our latest blog to explore what this ancient discovery teaches us and why deep investigation is essential for modern structures.

Concrete structures can look fine on the surface while hidden issues develop inside.

Independent Non Destructive Testing (NDT) helps engineers understand what is happening within concrete without damaging it, so risks like voids, cracking, reinforcement placement issues, and early corrosion can be identified early.

In our latest blog, we cover:
• What NDT can reveal
• Why independence matters for unbiased results
• How NDT supports QA, compliance, and smarter long term decisions

Seismic upgrades on bridges in New Zealand are essential for public safety, maintaining transport networks, and protecting the economy. By strengthening bridges against earthquake damage, these upgrades help ensure life safety, keep vital routes open for emergency services and communities, reduce repair costs, and bring older structures up to modern engineering standards.
