Russia loves to portray its military as “invincible.” Since 2014, Ukraine has exposed Russia to be more of a paper bear, and in recent months managed to stall its battlefield progress.

Discover three long running myths behind Russia’s “invincible” image:
Myth 1: Russia is an unstoppable military force
Myth 2: Russian firepower is so powerful and terrifying that fighting it is pointless
Myth 3: Ukraine and its allies have already lost the war

What is the true cost of sanctions for Russia? Plummeting oil and gas revenues (with Iran war windfalls offering temporary relief, not structural recovery), punishingly expensive borrowing, and the loss of key markets.
It is becoming increasingly difficult for the Kremlin to finance the war against Ukraine. Staying the course delivers results. Sanctions work.

More than 3,000 visitors have already passed through the “Enjoy, it’s from Europe!” stand in the first two days of Fieldays 2026. 🇪🇺🇳🇿

It has been a pleasure to welcome Team Europe Ambassadors and representatives, Ministers, Members of Parliament from across the House, and thousands of members of the New Zealand public.

Together, we have been showcasing the best of European food — from cheeses, cured meats and cornichons, to olives, vinegars, oils and marzipan.

Many of these products are protected as Geographical Indications. This means their quality, reputation or special character is linked to a specific place, as well as to traditional know-how passed through generations.

Since the EU–NZ Free Trade Agreement entered into force on 1 May 2024, these distinctive products have been protected in both markets — including more than 20 New Zealand wines.

We look forward to sharing more flavours, stories and conversations with you tomorrow. 🧀

Russia has been portraying the EU and Ukraine’s leadership as “warmongers” unwilling to end the war. This is, of course, an outright lie.
In reality, it is the Kremlin that has rejected at least seven peace proposals in 2025 alone.

Over four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. What was meant to weaken Europe strengthened our unity. Ukraine stands firm. Europe stands with Ukraine. Russia’s aggression was a strategic miscalculation and our support to Ukraine remains steadfast. The path to peace is clear: intensifying pressure on Russia while increasing support for Ukraine.

The Russian economy is in trouble. War-driven growth is losing momentum, sanctions are tightening, reserves shrinking & uncertainty is increasingly shaping everyday life. What looked like resilience is proving fragile, as the costs of the war spread beyond the battlefield 🇺🇦🇪🇺🇳🇿

Where do you think the EU ranks among New Zealand’s top trading partners?

Because since the EU–NZ Free Trade Agreement entered into force in May 2024, exports to Europe are up by $3 billion. That’s more goods, more opportunities, and more Kiwi businesses reaching 450 million consumers.

Not bad for a partnership on the other side of the world.

So… has perception caught up with reality? 👀

Russia launched massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving people to endure harsh winter conditions. The EU & its Member States stood with Ukraine during this time, & through every winter of the war, providing emergency support to keep cities lit and homes warm.
