The NZ Classification Office is an independent government agency providing education in media literacy and critical thinking, as well as classifying films, video games and other publications. We use it with the objective of providing information and tools to the public, promoting transparency, fostering interactive relationships with our audiences, informing our own work, and enhancing trust in th

e classification system. On our social media accounts we share:

- information about the classification system and how it works
- research insights, classification information, newsletters, and content guides
- resources and information for rangatahi, parents, caregivers and communities
- classification information about films, streaming content and video games

We do not respond to all comments or private messages on social media. Instead, we encourage users to contact us through our office channels of physical mail, email or phone if they would like a response. We love hearing from interested people and organisations and welcome all feedback whether positive, negative or simply curious, but we don't condone trolls. Also, comments that are false, repetitive, or unrelated to the topic may be removed. We may post on social media with the comments function turned off. We aim to keep comments on our posts constructive and respectful. Users that continue to breach our guidelines may be restricted from commenting on our pages, and in some cases they may be reported, removed or blocked. The Wayan Brothers are back, 26 years after their first Scary Movie, with another instalment of horror-comedy slapstick: SCARY MOVIE 6 is in cinemas now. This time, they poke fun at late 2010s / early 2020s films like Sinners, M3GAN, Get Out, The Substance and – of course – the Scream sequels.

This film has been classified by our Office as R16, which means it’s legally restricted to audiences over the age of 16.

It doesn’t mean it’s necessarily right for you, just because you’re that age, though! We’ve issued content warnings for violence, offensive language, drug use, s*x scenes, nudity and s*xual material.
