The Cook Islands High Commission was delighted to attend and support the Cook Islands Breast Cancer Foundation Fundraiser Ball, hosted by the Hon. Barbara Edmonds MP and the Hon. Gerry Brownlee. The evening was made even more special with the support and performances of leading Aotearoa and Cook Islands artists, coming together to help raise awareness and funds for an important cause.

The evening highlighted the vital work of the Cook Islands Breast Cancer Foundation and its commitment to supporting women across the Pa Enua who face barriers in accessing breast cancer screening in Rarotonga. Funds raised from this important event will help provide greater opportunities for women from the Pa Enua to travel to Rarotonga for screening and early detection.

Meitaki Maata to the Cook Islands Breast Cancer Foundation for bringing together such a meaningful and important event, and to everyone who contributed to this worthy cause. Your efforts will help make breast cancer screening more accessible to women across the Pa Enua and support the ongoing work to detect and treat breast cancer early.

A truly important cause that is much needed in our communities. ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€

What a beautiful celebration of 41 years of Cook Islands day celebrating our Cook Islands language, culture and identity through the Porirua Cook Islands community. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฐ

It was so heartwarming to see all generations come together, singing, chanting, dancing and drumming, keeping our culture alive and proudly sharing our Cook Islands footprint.

A huge Meitaki Maata to the Porirua Cook Islands Community for the invitation and for being the glue that continues to bring our people together. It was truly special to be part of such a meaningful celebration of who we are and where we come from.

Our culture, our language and our traditions are our legacy. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฐ

The Cook Islands High Commission, together with Inano Dance and the Pฤtaka Art + Museum in Porirua, was delighted to welcome female Heads of Missions and other female diplomats from the diplomatic corps and our local community to a special Ura Session as part of the celebrations for Cook Islands Language Week. We often talk with our diplomatic partners about embracing and celebrating our unique culture, so it was wonderful to have the opportunity to get them involved and experience it firsthand.

Guests also had the opportunity to explore the Marama Malama: Te Manavฤ Moana Women exhibition at Pฤtaka Art + Museum, where the stunning work of women artists from across the Pacific is proudly displayed, including pieces by some of our very own Cook Islands artists. Before the Ura Session began, visitors spent time with the Tipurepure 'Au Vaine group, who gather each week to create their beautiful tivaevae. Watching them at work and learning about the significance of this art form offered a special insight into the skill, patience, and love for tivaevae making.

Meitaki maata to Te Hau Winitana and the team from Inano Dance for leading such a wonderful Ura Session and sharing their passion, knowledge, and love of Cook Islands culture with everyone who attended.
