The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) plays a central role in shaping and delivering a strong New Zealand economy. Our contribution to improving the well-being of New Zealanders is summarised in our purpose, to grow New Zealand for all.

'Grow' relates to economic performance. To achieve the standard of living and quality of life for today and for future generations we need a

well-performing economy through productive and sustainable use of resources across New Zealand.

‘For all’ means all people have an opportunity to participate in and benefit from the economy. For us, success looks like:
prosperous and adaptable people, sectors and regions
people are skilled and engaged in safe and fulfilling work
informed consumers and businesses interacting with confidence
value is sustainably derived from the natural environment
a dynamic business environment fostering innovation and international connections. These aspirations are echoed in our Māori identity – Hīkina Whakatutuki – which broadly means ‘lifting to make successful'. Read our terms of use for social media - www.mbie.govt.nz/smterms

🚀 A major milestone for innovation in New Zealand

The Research and Development Tax Incentive (RDTI) has now supported $10 billion of business investment in research and development.

The RDTI is a joint venture between MBIE and Inland Revenue. It helps businesses develop new ideas, products and technologies by providing a 15% tax credit on eligible research and development costs.

This support helps businesses grow, create skilled jobs, and stay competitive.

When businesses invest in innovation, the benefits extend beyond individual companies. It helps build a stronger economy for all New Zealanders.

A major milestone for our Tenancy Services team! Bonds are now online 💻📲

Find out more below.

🎊 Today marks a major milestone 🎊

Landlords, all bond transactions are now online through Bond Hub and connected property management software. Paper bond forms are no longer accepted.

We know this is a big change after many years, and we’d like to thank landlords, property managers and tenants for their support as we modernise bond management.

Moving online means faster processing, clearer updates and a simpler, more transparent experience for everyone.

Tenants can respond to bond requests online and opt in to receive text (SMS) updates, making it even easier to stay informed.
