G A R D E N T O T A B L E | π±π§π©βπΎ Over the past couple of weeks, Tomarata School has rebooted our Garden 2 Table programme. So many students have signed up to participate, showing us that there is a real enthusiasm for this kind of hands on learning.
Last week, one group worked to create grapefruit muffins, while another constructed a compost bin.
Today, one group was busy cooking muffins while another started up a worm farm. Thank you Sascha for the worms!!
Firstly, we did a worm hunt in the garden to see how many worms we could find. We only managed to find one. This shows us that we need to get more organic matter into our garden beds. Hopefully over the coming months, our compost and worm farm will help lift the quality of the soil, leading to some awesome growing over summer.
It is so much fun being out and about in the garden with students, and I know that they are loving the opportunity to do cooking at school as well.
A huge thank you to all of the parents who have indicated that they can help with this programme, and a shout out to Aimee for taking on the leadership of G2T at Tomarata School! ππ©βπΎπ
