Just a friendly reminder of the AGM this Thursday at 7pm

We need a good turnout so please make an effort to come along so we can get our membership register sorted.

New members are really encouraged to attend so we can keep this fantastic community hall up and running available for your use.

AGM Agenda

Welcome
Apologies
Last years minutes
Matters arising
Appointment of officers
Approve financial accounts
General business including the state of the finances, collecting the names of the members of the society (we need 10 minimum).

A big thank you for all the donations over the last little while. $1370 has been donated which leaves us with a balance of $680 approximately after our insurance got paid.

DONATIONS PLEASE

Hi everyone,

I've had a call from our treasurer, Jill Cotter regarding the hall's finances.

Jill is in the invidious position of not having enough funds in the bank account to pay the annual premium for the hall's insurance - $2,813.27. The payment is due tomorrow.

There are also some smaller bills coming up which won't be able to be paid from what we currently have in our account - $2,679.

After Jill’s last email we had 3 generous donations from Alan, Jodie and Catherine but we are still $500 short to take care of our immediate bills. Of course those bills don’t stop coming. It takes $7,500 to keep the hall up and running each year.

We did have a couple of successful fundraisers last year that kept us running up until now. Those events require a lot of commitment from the community which becomes harder as we all age a little.

Could I plead with you now to see what you can do to help in keeping the hall afloat ?

Our Account Name: Forest Reserve Hall Society.

Account Number:
02-0484-0013878-000

I would propose that our finances and the future of the hall be added to the agenda for our upcoming AGM

Cheers and Thank you,

Dennis Thompson

Hi everyone,

You may have heard that Dr Richard Tyler was the doctor who had the unfortunate accident, while out walking on a Mount Victoria track.

Richard had a holiday property on Pakiri Block Rd. Richard also came to our auction at the hall a couple of years ago and very generously outbid everyone for the rounds of golf at Tara Iti.

I’m sure I speak for all of you in expressing our deepest regrets to Richard’s family for his passing.

Thanks to Home Brewed for coming out on Friday Night and supporting our Fundraiser. Their range of music got everyone up and dancing and we all had a great time. For bookings speak to Nick - 027 588 3332. I highly recommend them.

A big thanks to all those who supported our auctions with donations and bidding. It was heaps of fun.

2 more sleeps before Friday Night start’s humming at the Forest Reserve Hall.

The band is all tuned up and ready to hum.

A number of people have asked what BYO means - Bring Your Own. And the other one that people are asking about is what a Pot Luck Dinner means - bring one dish - a main or dessert.

If you aren’t into the Pot Luck Dinner portion of the evening - from 6 - 7.30pm, you can still come along afterwards and enjoy the Dance part of the evening.

We have quite a few items we will raffle or auction. And that’s going to happen throughout the evening during band breaks.

Just a reminder if you can’t make it. You can still help Us by making a donation to:

Thank you.

HALL CLEANING/TABLE SET UP 10.30AM SATURDAY

Hi everyone,

Jo Wood has done a great job of making the promo look appealing and has printed out copies for Nina the RD lady to do a mailbox drop today.

In readiness for Friday week’s Pot Luck Dinner and Dance we need a quick cleaning of the hall and set out of the tables and chairs.

Could as many of you as possible be at the hall at 10.30 on Saturday to help us out ?

Many thanks.

Ps someone has queried whether it’s necessary for those who want to come to have to bring food. Apparently they thought having to bring your bits and bobs was a bit too much. Oh dear the poor wee things. I stressed that the dinner is from 6-7.30pm so if anyone wants to come after then they’re more than welcome. I’m getting the feeling we will see quite a few people as the evening progresses.

PSs Music wise, the band will start off with quieter numbers towards the end of the dinner and do 3 or 4 1 hour sets with breaks in between. There will be raffles / auction towards the end of the dinner (?) and during the breaks. We don’t have a huge number of donations so it might be just the auction. Isobel is taking care of that so speak to her if you have something to offer up.

Hi everyone,

We are going to have an auction during the band’s set breaks for the Pot Luck Dinner Dance 30 May. We are seeking offers of goods and or services as auction or raffle items.

Do you have something you can offer or can you suggest generous benefactors we can approach to help ?

Craig Couling, Carrfields Northland Dairy Co-Ordinator will be our auctioneer - please support Craig 027 292 6828

Cheers,
