Eastern Bay Volunteer Fire Brigade is a wildland fire crew based in Whakatane and serve the wider Eastern Bay of Plenty region.

Renshaws has quietly been collecting money from their jewellery cleaning service for a wee while now and today the money was gratefully recieved by some of our crew members. The total amount donated was $2300 - that's a lot of clean jewellery! A massive thank you to Renshaws for this very generous donation 💕
The money is now safely tucked away in our bank account and will go towards kitting out our Support Trailer. 😀

You may have us out and about on Thursday evenings with our lights flashing up and down the urban roads instead of rural areas like we normally are - the crew have been doing hydrant testing iver the past few weeks. We still have a few streets to do so feel free to bring your little ones out to say hi. 👩‍🚒 🚒 👨‍🚒

Also a gentle reminder, some of the hydrants are located on the road and some are on grass verges - please don't park over them as this restricts the Urban Brigade gaining access in the event of a structural fire.

The last few weeks have been getting busy for most of the Brigades with things drying out around the district, here's a few photos of what the EBVFB team have been up to.

With a quiet Christmas period, which has been good 😎, the last week has seen our crew getting busy again with our appliance 6071 spending 33.3 hours at 5 calls helping out.
While we may not have had a huge number of calls in 2024, our team attended 64 callouts. This time wise averaged out to our appliance spending 2.5 hrs at each call.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums of our Brigade members children, we appreciate all your support while your significant other is out there doing his thing at all hours of the day and night 😀 and an extra special Happy Mothers Day to the only two mums in our Brigade - out there smashing it!

Gave some of our more experienced members the chance to step up as Crew Leaders to mentor our new recruits last night at training. Setting up a varirty of portable pumps and problem solving along the way, awesome learning opportunities for our newest team members.
Gave some of the locals a free bath at the same time. 🤣🤣

Today saw 12 of our crew heading for Tauranga at 0530 to help with the Matakana island fire, tomorrow 6 more will spend Christmas day helping out again.
Thanks team 👌

And a Huge Thanks to all the IMT staff, pilots contractors and fire crews out there giving up family time over Christmas to help out on this fire and all the other emergency that happen during this time around NZ 👏🙌
