Loss of Gas Supplies in Whanganui

After receiving a number of reports of no gas early morning on 29 November from consumers in Whanganui it was discovered that water from a leaking water pipe had entered GasNet’s network in Castlecliff. The water leak has been isolated and is being repaired by the Whanganui District Council, leaving GasNet to isolate its network within the affected area, remove the water and recommission the network and gas supplies.

Currently the affected areas are Seafront Road and Manuka Street. Consumers are advised to contact GasNet or their retailer if they have no gas, and if possible turn off their gas supply at the meter.

Further updates will be provided during the day as information comes to hand.

GasNet is committed to ensuring that supplies are restored as soon as possible with staff and contractors currently working on containing and resolving the situation.

Further information for those consumers affected by this outage can be received by calling GasNet any time at 349 2050 or alternatively by email at [email protected]
