Kia ora Gonville … we hope you have enjoyed the long weekend. This is our short week ahead. This morning at 10am it is time for the adult Chess Club, suitable for all levels, also if you’d like to learn how to play. On Wednesday we have the Gonville Knitters in between 9am and 12noon and in the afternoon between 12.30pm and 3pm it is time for the Gonville Games club to have their weekly games of Mahjong or Rummikub. On Thursday at 10am our Arts and Crafts group will set up around the table to make rock paintings . Thursday afternoon at 2pm we have our Health and Wellness group getting together to discuss all things health. On Friday at 11.30am we have our recently returned Story Time. A short week but still something for everyone, no need to register, just show up and join the fun!

Kia ora Gonville … this is our week ahead. This morning at 10am we have our weekly drop-in Clinic with SENSE Whanganui – this clinic is all about making people Cyber Smart. If you want to know more about how to create strong passwords, how to activate two-factor authentication or how to avoid being scammed, come over to have a chat with Alistair. Also at 10am this morning we have Little Explorers, our sensory programme for babies. Today at 1pm, we have the Whanganui Social Scrabble Club in for their weekly game. Tomorrow at 10am it is time for the adult Chess Club, suitable for all levels, also if you’d like to learn how to play. On Wednesday we have the Gonville Knitters in between 9am and 12noon and in the afternoon between 12.30pm and 3pm it is time for the Gonville Games club to have their weekly games of Mahjong or Rummikub. On Thursday at 10am our Arts and Crafts group will set up around the table to make a bespoke wall hanging . Thursday afternoon at 2pm we have our Health and Wellness group getting together discussing all things health. On Friday at 11.30am we have our Story Time. As always, something for everyone, no need to register, just show up and join the fun!

Kia ora Gonville, we are looking at another very busy week, … May Music Month is still underway and this week is also Techweek, bringing some extra events and activities along across all branches. Today at 10am SENSE Whanganui will be at the library to deliver 2 presentations for Techweek; First we have a small group Masterclass on thinking with AI, followed by a talk on Cyber Safety made Practical. 10am is also the starting time of our sensory children’s programme “Little Explorers”. At 1pm it is time for the Whanganui Social Scrabble Club to have their weekly game. Tomorrow at 10am the Chess Club will get together for their weekly game. At 1.30pm our monthly “Good Reads @ Gonville” book chat group will continue to share and discuss their recent reads – focus will be on Science fiction and technology reads, in line with Techweek. On Wednesday we will have the Gonville Knitters in between 9am and 12pm and the Gonville and Gonville Games Club from 12.30pm onwards. At 10am on Thursday we have our Arts and Crafts group, creating Glass Mosaic art. Thursday at 2pm Diane will host the Health and Wellness group. We end the week with a talk on “How to keep your children safe online”, Saturday at 2.30pm. Lots and lots to enjoy this week with all activities free of charge, all materials provided where needed and no need to register – except for the Techweek events! Have a great week and we look forward to seeing many of you!

Kia ora Gonville, we are looking at a very busy week, jam-packed with activities and events, ahead of us … NZ Music Month is bringing some extra events and activities along this week and across all branches. Today at 10am SENSE Whanganui will be at the library to help with all digital queries you might have. 10am is also the starting time of our sensory children’s programme “Little Explorers”. At 1pm it is time for the Whanganui Social Scrabble Club to have their weekly game. Tomorrow at 10am the Chess Club will get together for their weekly game. At 1.30pm our monthly “Write It” writing group will continue to craft their stories. On Wednesday we will have the Gonville Knitters in between 9am and 12pm and the Gonville and Gonville Games Club from 12.30pm onwards. At 6.30pm we will have our very first Movie Night ever – celebrating May Music Month with a singalong screening of Mamma Mia. On Thursday at 10am we welcome John Wilson for a Tea and Topics talk on Nutrition in later life and how nutritional requirements change with age. Also at 10am we have our Gonville Library Arts And Crafts Group , creating tin foil art. Thursday afternoon at 2pm there is the Community Wellness session with Diana - addressing any question or issues you might have. We end the week with two more Music Month events; On Friday at 1pm there is an acoustic session with Bobbi Rae in the Alexander Library - Te Rerenga Mai o Te Kāuru. On Saturday 16th of May we have a Silent Disco in the courtyard of the Whanganui District Library (Davis Library). Lots and lots to enjoy this week with all activities free of charge, all materials provided where needed and no need to register – except for the Silent Disco as spaces are very limited!
