We had a great time in Taihape - we presented our "Hou Hou te Rongo – Restorative Approaches to Conflict" workshop to the wonderful kaimahi at Mokai Patea Services. A beautiful day of shared mātauranga and kōrero.

At Restorative City Whanganui, we’re committed to growing the capability of our kaimahi so we can continue to serve our community with integrity, skill, and heart.

We’re proud to acknowledge that Melanie Cole was recently awarded a Resolution Institute scholarship to complete mediation training. This opportunity was made possible through the generous support of the Resolution Institute, alongside our organisation’s investment in her development.

Melanie is now working toward mediation accreditation, adding another strand to the restorative practice we offer across our rohe.
He mihi nui to the Resolution Institute for supporting this journey, and to Melanie for her dedication to strengthening peaceful pathways for our community.

What a delight it was to attend the latest installment in the Women Who Lead series, featuring Jenny Saywood. Jenny is a current and founding Board member of Restorative City.

Jenny shared with us her inspiration for becoming a kindergarten teacher, opening the first kindy in Porirua in the 1960s, about her travels, her time as a probation officer, and how that led to her involvement in restorative justice.

Jenny's dream (in addition to pay equity) is to see Whanganui become a city where when people disagree or have conflict their default response is to have a conversation about what has happened, the hurt experienced, and how the relationship can be restored.

Thank you Jenny for sharing your story with such humour and grace!

Thanks also to Carla D from the Women's Network Whanganui, Sport Whanganui and Barracks Sports Bar for hosting this amazing series!

Jenny was one of the founding members of Restorative City Whanganui Trust and has been a huge advocate for restorative justice and practice. Go along and listen next Tuesday, it'll be great.

WOMEN WHO LEAD: NEXT TUESDAY ✨⭐

We have worked with our colleague Jenny Saywood QSM JP over many years, notably in her role as the Whanganui branch President of the National Council of Women and formerly when she was the Service Manager of the Whanganui Probation Service. So, it was a thrill when Jenny accepted our invitation to be the March guest for Women Who Lead. We've got lots of entertaining topics to discuss! The role of teachers, country living, overseas adventures, working in politics and probation, not to mention feminist activism and restorative justice. Phew!

👉 Join us! Next Tuesday, 24 March, 5:30pm.

⭐ Your monthly hour of power, and so much more. Brought to you by us and our buddies at Sport Whanganui and The Barracks ⭐
