People Before Profit. Candidate Profile – Local Elections – Whangārei District Council
Born in Whangārei and raised in Northland, I have deep roots in our region and a lifelong commitment to our community. As a business owner and active volunteer, I’m known for my authentic, “jump in and find solutions” approach. I’m a sociable, open-minded person who valu
es real connection—bringing people together and creating spaces where all feel heard. I believe in a welcoming CBD that supports local businesses, encourages foot traffic, strengthens community connection, and brings life back into our city through supported, monitored, and coordinated, engaging late-night shopping and vibrant nightlife. I strongly support sustaining and building on already established initiatives, such as planting fruit trees and herbs in public spaces, to encourage food accessibility, local resilience, and shared responsibility for our environment—small changes that can nourish both people and community spirit. I believe our elderly deserve to be acknowledged, while our young adults require access to meaningful services, support, and opportunities to be encouraged and stay in our city. I also recognize the importance of practical solutions to traffic flow, parking, footpaths, disability access, and inclusive transport—whether that’s better taxi services, ride-share options, or safer roads for all users. Our small communities are important and must be included in all city planning and development. Without them, the Northland experience simply wouldn’t exist—they are the heart of our region. My experience working with diverse people and community organizations has shaped my transparent, balanced decision-making. I’m passionate about wellbeing and social issues, and I believe in responsible budgeting that focuses on needs over wants. I’ll advocate for strong ratepayer representation, local stability, and realistic planning. I bring energy, authenticity, integrity, and the drive to help build strong foundations for a resilient, inclusive future. I’m standing for the Hikurangi-Coastal General Ward on the Whangārei District Council.
