Last night the Whangārei Kaipara Operational Support team got together for another productive training session.

The evening focused on hose deployments, constructing improvised dams and setting up scene lighting. These are all important skills that help ensure we can effectively support operations when called upon.

It was a great opportunity to build confidence, refresh knowledge and work together as a team in a practical environment. A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to another successful training night.

Training nights🔥

Another great night of training for our brigade with both our qualified and recruits putting in the hard work to continue building and strengthening their skills.

Our qualified members focused on lighting operations along with knots and lines training. Crews worked through setting up scene lighting effectively for night operations and low visibility incidents, ensuring safe and efficient working environments on the fireground. They also refreshed and practiced a range of knots and line work skills that are essential for operational response, equipment handling, securing gear, and maintaining safety on scene.

At the same time, our recruits took part in PFD (Personal Flotation Device) training as they continue progressing through their learning journey. The session covered the correct use and fitting of PFDs, water safety awareness, and the importance of operating safely around floodwater and water related incidents. It was a great opportunity for recruits to gain confidence with the equipment while developing their understanding of safety procedures in potentially hazardous environments.

A huge effort from everyone involved tonight. It’s fantastic to see the ongoing commitment, teamwork and willingness to learn across the brigade. Every training night is another step towards being ready to respond safely and effectively for our community when needed.🚒
