15:20 12/04/2026: The cyclone has now passed to the south‑east of our area. Civil Defence is standing down most centres, with the exception of Thames.
A weather warning remains in place. There is still a risk of additional slips and trees coming down. Driving conditions remain dangerous.
There are some road closures around the Coromandel, but none in our immediate area. We appear to have escaped the worst of the storm. Large swells will continue for some time.
I will keep you updated if I receive further information from Civil Defence.

We have responded to a collapse at the boat ramp and walkway on Iti Lane. The ground has given way and the entire area is unsafe.
We have installed two barriers to prevent access. As soon as we left, people stepped over them and walked to the edge. That edge is undermined by several metres. If it gives way while you are standing on it, you face serious injury or death.
The barriers are not there for decoration. They are there because the risk is real and immediate.

08:30 12/04/2026 - Good morning everyone, We have been for a drive this morning and checked the area from Ferry Landing to Dalmeny Corner. SO FAR there us a small amount of surface flooding, the ford heading to the ferry has a small amount of water running over it and is passable by car as off 0830hrs today. All bridges are passable and no flooding at Dalmeny. We have cleared 4 medium size branches from the roads and all roads are clear. Please avoid driving if you can as there are a number of LARGE pine trees which look unstable. I hope you all stay dry, warm and safe today.

Hi everyone, as you are aware we will be hit by a cyclone early this Sunday morning. We are now in a red watch and it is expected to start at 0500 hrs Sunday morning and last until 1800 hrs Sunday night.

There is a possibility of power cuts. Please do not travel if it is not required.

Our brigade is fully equipped to handle any emergency. We have chain saws, water rescue equipment and much more. Please do not hesitate to call 111 if you need us. We have been preparing all week for the event.

If you require sandbags, they are available at the back if the station next to the water tank. Please help yourself. If you require evacuation, please call 111. Do not wait to see what may happen.

I will post updates as the cyclone approaches. I hope you will all be safe and dry. Your brigade will be out there watching.
