Our volunteers are at Mitre 10 New Zealand MEGA Manukau today running a sausage sizzle as part of the Hato Hone St John Annual Appeal.

Every year, the Annual Appeal helps raise vital funds that support Hato Hone St John’s ambulance services, community programmes, youth development, health services, and the thousands of volunteers and staff who serve communities across Aotearoa.

If you’re in the area, come down, grab a sausage, and say hello to the team. Whether it’s a donation, a purchase from the sausage sizzle, or simply sharing this post, your support helps us continue to be there for people when they need us most. We can take cash and EFTPOS!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Hato Hone St John and the work we do in communities every day. We look forward to seeing you at Mitre 10 Manukau! 💚🚑🌭

June is Hato Hone St John Annual Appeal Month! 🚑

Throughout June, our volunteers will be out across South Auckland raising funds as part of the Hato Hone St John Annual Appeal.

This year, we’re raising money to help build, upgrade, and repair ambulance stations across New Zealand. Our ambulance stations are more than just buildings-they’re where our crews prepare for emergencies, rest between callouts, train, and support their local communities. By investing in these facilities, we’re helping ensure our people can continue delivering lifesaving care when and where it’s needed most.

If you’d like to support the appeal, come and see us at one of our upcoming collection points:

📍 Tuesday 16 June
Highland Park Pak’nSave
🕚 1100–1930

📍 Saturday 27 June
Bunnings Botany BBQ & Collection
🕣 0830–1600

📍 Tuesday 30 June
New World Southmall
🕚 1100–2000

Can’t make it to one of our collection sites? You can donate online anytime at:

https://lighttheway.stjohn.org.nz/manukau

You can also make a donation at any ASB branch nationwide by asking to donate to the Hato Hone St John Annual Appeal.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue providing emergency ambulance services, community health programmes, first aid education, youth development, and support services throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

Thank you for helping us Light the Way and ensure Hato Hone St John can continue being there for our communities when they need us most. 💛💚

Today, we were proud to be invited to exhibit at the Civil Defence Emergency Management Expo run by Auckland Emergency Management and held at Due Drop Events Centre. 💚💛

Throughout the day, our team connected with members of the community, showcased the work we do across ambulance and community health services and spent time teaching people how to recognise a cardiac arrest and use an AED confidently in an emergency.

It was fantastic to see so many people getting hands-on, asking questions, and learning skills that could one day help save a life. We were also privileged to exhibit alongside a range of amazing community organisations including Auckland Response Team - South (NZ-RT23), Counties Manukau - Fire and Emergency NZ, New Zealand Red Cross, Neighbourhood Support New Zealand and many more!

Last night we had the privilege of coming together to celebrate the incredible people who make our organisation so special at our annual Awards Evening. 💛

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the dedication, passion, and commitment shown by our volunteers and staff across our community. We celebrated a number of long service milestones, acknowledging the many years of service given to Hato Hone St John and the countless lives impacted along the way.

We were also proud to recognise our scholarship recipients, supporting the continued growth and development of some of our amazing people as they continue their journey within the organisation.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a publicly accessible AED and cabinet to our Archives and Heritage Unit. This generous donation helps ensure that lifesaving equipment is available and accessible, while also supporting the safety of everyone who visits the site.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to all those who continue to give their time, energy, and care to our communities every single day. 💚

Today our Operations and our Mt Wellington Major Incident Support Team (MIST) had the privilege of attending the Auckland Whānau Special Needs Support Group Wheels Day in Manukau alongside Auckland Response Team - South (NZ-RT23), Counties Manukau Police and many other services. 🚑💚

For many people with special needs, interactions with emergency services can sometimes feel overwhelming or unfamiliar. Events like Wheels Day create a safe, supportive, and fun environment where individuals and whānau can meet responders, explore emergency vehicles, ask questions, and build confidence around the people and services that are there to help them in times of need.

Our team loved spending the day connecting with families, showing people through our vehicles and equipment, and helping create positive experiences with emergency services. Seeing the excitement, curiosity, and smiles throughout the day was a real highlight for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to the Auckland Whānau Special Needs Support Group for the incredible mahi you do advocating for and supporting members of our community. We’re proud to stand alongside so many agencies committed to making emergency services more inclusive, accessible, and community-focused for all. ❤️🚑

Supporting our crews at Middlemore Hospital last night 💚🚑

Last night, Jo, Deidre, and Peter were proud to spend time at Middlemore Hospital supporting and feeding our amazing ambulance crews. 🥪🍲

They brought along plenty of delicious food, including some yummy home-cooked and baked goodies, to help keep our crews going during a busy night caring for the community.

Small acts of kindness like this make a huge difference to our frontline staff and volunteers, reminding them that their hard work and dedication never go unnoticed.

A huge thank you to Jo, Deidre, and Peter for the care, generosity, and aroha they showed our crews 💚

We had the privilege of delivering a 3 Steps for Life session at Jesus Is Lord Church.

It was fantastic to see so many people engaged and willing to learn simple lifesaving skills that can make a real difference in an emergency. From recognising cardiac arrest, to calling 111, starting CPR, and using an AED- every person trained helps build a safer and more prepared community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to the church for the warm welcome and support throughout the session. It’s always inspiring to see communities coming together to learn how they can help save a life. ❤️
