The Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat observed the first anniversary of Pakistan’s glorious victory in Marka-e-Haq today in a dignified and very well attended event. A large segment of Pakistani-Omani community participated in the event. Messages of the leadership were read out by the Deputy Head of Mission and the Defence Attache. Speeches highlighting various aspects of Marka-e-Haq were delivered by Dr. Saadia Fatima (Head of Department, Al-Zahra College Muscat) , Mr. Ameer Hamza (Chairman, Pakistan Schools Oman), Mr. Zahid Shakoor (Acting Chairman of the Pakistan Social Club) and Dr. Dileep Kumar (a distinguished member of Pakistani-Hindu community in Oman). In addition to the speeches, Mr. Qamar Riaz, a renowned poet, recited a poem as a tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan. Three national songs released by ISPR were also screened during the event.
The speakers highlighted the significance of Marka-e Haq as not only an unparalleled victory in the military domain against several times bigger enemy, but also a victory in the diplomatic and information domains, which had exposed enemy’s machinations and rendered its malign propaganda against Pakistan bereft of any credibility. In his keynote remarks, Ambassador Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari congratulated the Pakistani community residing in Oman on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq. He remarked that Operation Bunyan um Marsoos was an example of the excellent synergy and coordination among Pakistan Air Force, Army and Navy. The Ambassador also paid a rich tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis of Marka-e-Haq. Highlighting the importance of Marka-e-Haq, Ambassador Bokhari said that this victory had underscored the importance of national unity in overcoming challenges against all odds. He lauded the civilian and military leadership for their strategic foresight and inspirational leadership during the war that led to a resounding victory in Marka-e-Haq. Ambassador Bokhari also thanked the Omani government for their balanced stance and advocacy of resolving all disputes between Pakistan and India through dialogue and negotiations. The event ended with a cake cutting ceremony.
