Pastor Anderson Awaisa sent us (the Hawkes Family) a summary of the memorial service held for Frank Hawkes at Erave. I would love to share some of the stories told at the service and some photos of Frank's time at Erave.

FROM PASTOR AWAISA

Today we had our funeral service . It was fabulous and emotional as various speakers shed light on their relationship with Frank Hawkes . Indeed it was God glorified funeral.

* Pastor Joe kapu: wept and claimed that he was baptised in 1980 by late missionary Frank HAWKES. Frank helped him attend 3 years world vision agriculture training school at Batri.
He build airstrips in remote areas.

* Vera Andia spoke highly of Frank's frequent and restless patrols to outlying remote areas encouraging and exhorting churches. She challenged pastors to emulate the footsteps of Frank and other pioneer missionaries.

She also urged that one of the Hawkes should visit Erave like Bruce Collingwood and we all agreed.

* Rose Naki while weeping spoke highly of the relationship with the Hawkes family thru the brotherhood relationship between Ronald Wandua Naki and Stephen Hawkes. She added Stephen pushed wandua in the drain and he nearly died but God saved wandua

* Polly Stephen Pumbuali also weeping commented that she was the house girl. Hawkes family are my family member. Robyn was a quite mum unlike Frank. Most times mum-Robyn will urge me to purchase red potato at the local market and Stephen would come and steal use it as it's bate to catch fish.

* (Pastor Pale couldn't attend due to illness )

* Emails: I read your emails and also read dad's life story that made every leaders crying.

* I preached proverbs 5:15 to "drink your water" and genesis 26:18 " to reopen closed well"..I stressed that our missionaries have established well water that we can drink so cherish and nurture it so that legacy continues. We are to revive and strengthened the mission of the pioneers..

Thank you from the Robyn, Philip, Wendy and Stephen Hawkes to all the Pole people for the love and memories you have shared with us as we grieve the passing of Frank.

Evenin Wantoks. I'm Wendy Hawkes, the page admin.

I wanted to share with you that my father, Frank Hawkes, passed away today.

Mum (Robyn), Philip, Stephen and I were with him . We spent the time telling stories of his life and many of them were Erave stories. We were all holding him as he passed.

Living in Erave was the happiest time of his life, of our whole family's life. You are truly our Wantoks and Erave is our true asples.

Please pass the news on to all Dad's friends.

I wish I could be up there wailing with you.

Love from all the Hawkes family.
