*FDDA PARTNERS WITH SMEC TO DELIVER GREEN ENERGY & INDUSTRIAL PARK VISION*

The Finschhafen District Development Authority (FDDA) is pleased to announce that SMEC International, in collaboration with Surbana Jurong, has formally submitted its proposal to undertake a High-Level Technical Assessment for the establishment of the Finschhafen Green Energy & Industrial Park within the Finschhafen Integrated Special Economic Zone (FISEZ).

This transformative initiative represents a milestone for Finschhafen, Morobe Province, and Papua New Guinea. The project will create a *1,000-hectare world-class industrial park* powered entirely by renewable energy sources including hydropower, wind, solar, and wave energy. It will feature green hydrogen production, LNG and hydrogen export terminals, and a low-carbon industrial park, while also incorporating climate-resilient infrastructure and eco-tourism opportunities.

The project is divided into five core assessment components:

1. Renewable Energy Resource Assessment
2. Green Hydrogen and Derivatives Development
3. Hydrogen Export Terminal Planning
4. LNG Export Terminal Planning
5. Low-Carbon Industrial Park Development

SMEC’s technical expertise, coupled with FDDA’s vision, will ensure that this project not only positions Finschhafen as the national hub for renewable-powered industrialization, but also places Papua New Guinea at the forefront of the global clean energy transition.

Speaking on behalf of the FDDA, Chairman *Hon. Rainbo Paita* said:

_“This is a historic step for Finschhafen and Papua New Guinea. Our Green Energy & Industrial Park will anchor the FISEZ as a net-zero carbon economic zone, attracting global investors, creating thousands of jobs, and ensuring sustainable economic growth for our people. This is our contribution to the global fight against climate change, and our commitment to building an industrial future based on clean, renewable energy."_

_"More importantly, this ambitious dream is our way of realizing the ‘Take Back PNG’ and ‘Take Back Our Resources’ policy agenda announced by the Pangu-led Government. Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has set the national direction, and FDDA is committed to turning this vision into reality through green energy development and downstream processing."_

_"As PNG marches forward into the next 50 years, we want to proudly position ourselves as the Green Industrial Hub of Papua New Guinea, driving inclusive growth, energy independence, and industrial transformation for future generations.”_

FDDA will work closely with SMEC, government agencies, international partners, and local communities to ensure inclusive participation and benefits for landowners and the people of Finschhafen.

The High-Level Technical Assessment marks the beginning of detailed planning, feasibility, and financing stages that will set the foundation for construction and operations in the years ahead.

A new era of healthcare is unfolding in Wengune Village, Ward 8 of Kote LLG, Finschhafen District, with the near completion of the Wengune Health Center. This remarkable project, a partnership between the Finschhafen District Development Authority (FDDA) and the SDA Church of Papua New Guinea, has been made possible under the visionary leadership of Hon. Rainbo Paita, MP for Finschhafen.

The health center is in its final stages, with only landscaping and staff housing left to be completed. Once these finishing touches are done, the facility is set to officially launch in 2025. This represents another significant step forward in providing accessible and quality healthcare to the people of Kote LLG and surrounding areas and also for the rest of the district.

In addition to the health center, the project site is also home to a Satellite Disc and FM Radio Tower, which is nearing completion. This infrastructure will enhance communication and access to information, making it a dual-impact project for the district.

We commend Hon. Rainbo Paita and all partners for their dedication to uplifting our communities. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for Finschhafen District.

*REMOTE FINSCHHAFEN REACHED BY NEW ROAD*.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

The newly constructed 16km road to reach one of the remotest villages and ward in Finschhafen Diatrict was Officially opened today by Hon Rainbo Paita, Finschhafen MP, accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Administrator for Infrastructure, Mr Kisu Lucas, District Administrator James Neapukali, the DFM Mr Taunakekei among other development partners and district delegates. Also present to witness this historic occasion was the Burum Kuat LLG President Hon. Philip Polly, who Paita thanked for his continued political and projects support.

This Launching program represented a climax of the Finschhafen District roads program initiated by the young Finschhafen MP Hon. RAINBO PAITA when he was first elected in 2017 NGE. Driving into his remote village for the first time this Sunday 24th November 2024, was an emotional moment for himself and his clan and families as well. During the ceremony, Paita also welcomed village leaders from the next village in Kabwum District. He reassured them that the road link will traverse the rest of Finschhafen and link up and end in Indagen station in Kabwum. This will consolidate the historical and familial ties between the Kabwum people and Finschhafen people, Paita added.

Paita further reminded the gathering crowd that there are other similar trunk and ring roads in Finschhafen that have yet to be connected, especially the Mape Ring Road, Kotte roads, and the Mindik Lembati new road construction, and alao the ongoing Fisika Highway.

The Deputy PA Mr Lucas also reiterated the Provincial Government's commitment to the Zem Road (Nawaeb Finschhafen coastal road) with gravelling under the 2025 Provincial Budget.

"To here the sound of vehicle engines from his village hut," remarked and elderly father, is so new that most of us are still in shock."

This road will service over 7,000 people in that locality, and more once other trunk and ring roads in the LLG are connected.

*OUR Pati Joins Government to Address National Challenges*

Media Release: Friday, November 15, 2024

My Fellow Papua New Guineans,

In this time of significant national challenges, OUR Pati, backed by 16 Members of Parliament, acknowledges wholeheartedly the urgency and complexity of the development issues and struggles we face as Papua New Guineans.

Despite our efforts in the recent Vote of No Confidence to initiate a change of Government, we recognize that the majority of our Members of Parliament remain steadfast in supporting Hon. James Marape as Prime Minister for the balance of this term of Parliament.

Papua New Guinea currently grapples with daunting challenges, including an unsettling law and order situation, climbing inflation rates, sluggish economic growth, inadequate employment opportunities, a lack of foreign direct investment, and deteriorating utility services from state-owned enterprises such as PNG Power, Telikom PNG, Air Niugini, and many others. These issues demand immediate and cohesive action from all political fronts.

After extensive consultations with leaders across the Government, OUR Pati Caucus has decided to set aside political differences and unify with the Government as a party to help address these pressing issues.

It is clear that another move for a Vote of No Confidence would cause more harm to our public service and stall vital government services and programs, as we have seen in the past.

This decision is unanimous among OUR Pati’s Parliamentary and Executive Wing. Our choice is a strategic move aimed at introducing alternative policies that address these challenges, stabilize the environment, restore investor confidence, and improve fiscal conditions.

As our country approaches its 50th anniversary of Independence, OUR Pati is committed to unity and ensuring that the best interests of our nation take precedence over personal and political ambitions.

We assure the public that our motivation is not rooted in personal gain, but rather in genuine concern for our nation’s immediate and long-term welfare. Our move to join the Government is not about surrendering our values, but rather about fulfilling our duty to bring actionable change and stability for our people.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to push for serious reforms in our public service, electoral system, digital government, law and order, economic management, state-owned enterprises, healthcare, education, and other critical sectors.

OUR Pati will continue to serve as a strong voice within the Government, agreeing or disagreeing on policies based on their merits. Our support will empower the Prime Minister and Pangu Pati to make difficult decisions in the national interest.

We sincerely thank and acknowledge the support from our opposition colleagues for their encouragement of OUR Pati and our members.

We thank the Almighty God for our mandate as leaders and remain faithful to the people of Papua New Guinea. Let us move forward together for a stronger and more prosperous Papua New Guinea.

Approved for Release!

Hon. Rainbo Paita, MP
Parliamentary Leader
OUR Pati Inc.
