I've watched this Almolonga revival story so many times now, and it still gets me every single time. Something about it just speaks straight to the heart.

Every time I look at PNG — our cities, our communities, our villages — I keep coming back to the same conclusion. The answer isn't a program. It's God (YAH).

Real revival isn't about bigger church attendance or more people ticking "Christian" on a form. Nor it is a declaration. It's the Holy Spirit actually changing hearts. Restoring families that have fallen apart. Healing communities that have been broken for generations. Turning a whole nation back to Him.

Because when hearts change, everything downstream changes too — corruption gives way to integrity, violence gives way to peace, hopelessness gives way to purpose, broken communities find restoration.

God doesn't just save individuals one at a time and leave it there. He transforms whole communities. He heals land. He can redirect the destiny of an entire nation — including ours.

PNG doesn't need another policy paper or another program rolled out from Waigani. What we actually need is repentance. Spiritual renewal. The Holy Spirit moving among us in a real way.

YAH, revive us again. Start in our hearts. Transform our communities. Heal our land. And let it spread — all through Papua New Guinea.

I first posted this on September 22, 2023. Since then, I have been consistent posting my thoughts on building the soul of our nation. I believe it a National Conversation we must continue to have.

I support the call by UNDP and its partners to strengthen women’s political participation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In the first 50 years of our independence, only 10 women were elected to Papua New Guinea’s National Parliament. Today, women occupy just three of the 118 seats. Just 1.7%

These figures should concern every Papua New Guinean—not only women.

Women make up almost half of our population. They raise families, sustain communities, produce food, run businesses, serve in churches and professions, and carry much of the burden when health services fail, schools struggle or violence enters the home.

Yet their voices remain largely absent from the institution where our national laws, budgets and development priorities are decided.

More women in Parliament would not simply mean filling seats or meeting a target. It would mean drawing upon a wider pool of leadership, experience and ability. It would mean more voices contributing to decisions about health, education, family welfare, economic opportunity, community safety and the protection of women and children.

Women are not all the same, and electing women does not automatically solve every national problem. But a democracy cannot be fully representative when half the population remains almost entirely absent from political decision-making.

Women must be supported to enter politics because of their competence, integrity, leadership and commitment to service—not merely to satisfy a statistic.

PNG does not lack capable women. What we lack is a political system that gives enough of them a genuine opportunity to lead.

If there is one important message for Papua New Guinea as we enter our next 50 years, let it be this: 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

Let us build a country in which our daughters can see Parliament not as a place reserved mainly for men, but as an institution in which they, too, can serve, lead and help determine the future of Papua New Guinea.

More women in Parliament means more of Papua New Guinea represented in Parliament.

This is our country—and women must have an equal voice in building its next 50 years. 🇵🇬

PNG 🇵🇬 cannot rise fully when half of its people are barely present in the rooms where our laws & decisions are made.

In 51 years of independence, only 10 women have ever been elected to our National Parliament. I am the ninth.

And I did not arrive overnight.

It took me seven years of trying, losing, learning, and starting again. Seven years of persistence and sacrifice, of being knocked back and getting up. I know from experience how hard the political path is for women in this country.

It is not that women lack intelligence, or leadership, or care for their communities — anyone who has spent time in a PNG village or market knows the opposite is true.

The barriers are real ones: cultural expectations, the cost of campaigning, the struggle to be seen, and political systems that were not built with us in mind.

But women carry some of the deepest lived experiences in our nation. We know what it is to raise families on little, to run a market table, to walk long roads for healthcare, to hold communities together through violence and hardship.

Those experiences are not a side note in our democracy — they are exactly the kind of wisdom Parliament needs more of.

That is why I want to share what I have learned with other women across PNG who may be thinking about political leadership one day. If anything from my journey helps another woman prepare better, stand stronger, or simply believe she belongs in the conversation, then it is worth sharing.

One thing I strongly believe is that technology is changing our politics — and it is opening doors for women.

In the past, many of us had no real platform to be heard beyond our own village. Today, a phone in your hand can be a platform. Women can share ideas, tell their own stories, connect with communities far from where they live, and build trust with people long before any campaign begins.

And the voters of the future — Gen Z and Millennials — already live much of their lives online. They form opinions there. They follow leaders they feel they know. For women who learn to use these tools wisely, this is a real opening — maybe the biggest one our generation has seen.

So I will keep encouraging women to learn the technology, use social media with care, find their voice, and prepare themselves for political leadership and public service.

Papua New Guinea needs more women at the decision-making table — not for the sake of a quota or a photo, but because we are part of what will build a stronger, wiser, and more balanced nation for the children coming behind us.

As we celebrate 51 years, may YAH bless our people, strengthen our unity and guide us into a new season of peace, prosperity and shared progress.
