What began as a pilot track from Kuima Ward 4 in Lower Jimi, Koinambe LLG, Jiwaka Province, toward Gama LLG, Usino-Bundi District in Madang Province, is steadily becoming a reality.
The road has now progressed approximately 6 kilometres, reaching the border area between Koinambe and Gama LLGs.
For the remote communities of Lower Jimi and Gama LLG , this is more than just a road. It is a pathway to people, markets, services, education, health and opportunity.
The journey from Banz urban to the project site currently takes around 4–5 hours, while vehicles are already travelling between Banz and Kuima day and night, showing the growing importance of this emerging connection.
Community members are expressing appreciation for the work being undertaken by Hon. Vincent P. Ambane Kumura , Chairman of UBGDDA, the contractor, the Marape-Rosso Government PM Hon. James Marape and development partners.
Perhaps most importantly, the communities themselves are taking ownership. Landowners are making their customary land available without compensation charges so the road can pass through.
That is what development partnership looks like:
Government provides leadership. Contractors build. Communities provide support. And a road becomes a shared pathway to a better future.
From Lower Jimi to Gama, connectivity is no longer just an ideaβ€”it is taking shape on the ground.

The Upper Bundi Road Upgrade from Mondia Pass to Bundi Station, initiated by the Usino-Bundi-Gama District Development Authority (UBGDDA) in partnership with the Marape-Rosso Government, is progressing strongly undertheleadershipof Hon Vincent P. Ambane Kumura .

Construction has now crossed Guagu Bridge and reached Mikainabaβ€”approximately 15 kilometres into the 22-kilometre stretch toward Bundi Station.

With only about 7 kilometres remaining from the current work front to Bundi Station, another construction team is advancing from the Madang side toward Bundi Station, with the two road works expected to meet in the coming weeks.

When these road sections connect, it will mark a major step toward strengthening the road link between Simbu Province and Madang Province.

For more than 15,000 people living along this corridor, this is more than a road. It means better access to markets, health, education, transport and essential servicesβ€”and new opportunities for communities that have waited for meaningful connectivity.

Former Bundi LLG President Alois Koane said, communities along the road are already beginning to benefit.

One road. One connection. Thousands of lives impacted.

FARMERS in remote Gama, Usino-Bundi, Madang, will receive K300,000 in freight funding to help transport their agricultural produce to markets.
Agriculture and Livestock Minister John Boito gave the K300,000 cheque to the Usino-Bundi development authority during the launching of development projects at Kenainz last week.
Boito also allocated K1 million in support of farmers and farmer cooperatives in Gama.

For many wards along the Ramu Plains in Usino LLG, access to clean and reliable water has been a long-standing challenge. Despite the presence of major companies in the area and previous government interventions, this basic need remained overlooked, particularly before the El NiΓ±o period.
Under the leadership of Usino-Bundi MP Hon. Vincent P. Ambane Kumura the District Development Authority begun addressing this issue through the District WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Project, with water projects being rolled out from Ward 1 through Ward 7.
One of the major developments is in Ward 6, Bumrupun, where the water supply project is expected to serve approximately 3,000 people.
For communities, water is not a luxury, it is a basic human need. These WaSH projects are about improving health, supporting families and giving communities access to safe and reliable water.
From Ward 1 to Ward 7, the focus is clear: bringing basic services closer to the people.
