To our brothers and sisters of Tswenkai, Kombaku, and Kinbong in the Maring Sense Division of Gama:
We would like to provide this important update and assure you that the road construction machinery currently working on the 15-kilometre access section will continue towards Tswenkai, Kombaku, and Kinbong. Your communities have not been excluded from this important road development initiative.
The recent road launch demonstrated the Districtโs commitment to improving road connectivity and opening access to all communities in Gama. However, it is important for everyone to understand that funding remains one of the greatest challenges in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects. Despite these challenges, the Usino Bundi District Authority Under ther Leadership Of Hon. Vincent P. Ambane Kumura remains committed to ensuring that construction continues until all planned sections are completed.

Connecting Gama to Madang through Lower Jimi has been a complex and costly undertaking. Before actual road construction began, the Usino-Bundi District Development Authority (DDA) invested almost K300,000 plus in essential preparatory works, particularly in the Lower Jimi area of Jiwaka Province.
๐๐ก๐๐ฌ๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐๐:

Rehabilitation of the Jimi River Bridge to allow heavy machinery access;

Patrol grading around Kuima;
โ
Transporting heavy machinery from Banz to Kuima;

Compensation to landowners where machinery and trucks crossed bridges and waterways;

Clearing coffee trees and vegetation along the road corridor; and
โ
Costs associated with the official road launch.
These costs were fully supported by the Usino-Bundi DDA, with valuable cooperation from the people of Gama.

This road corridor is designed to benefit both the people of Lower Jimi and Gama. However, the preparatory works were carried by the Usino-Bundi DDA, which affected the available funding required to complete the entire project in one phase.
The original plan was to construct the road from Komowai in Lower Jimi to Kombaku in Gama. However, because some wards in the Maring Sense Division share a boundary with Koinambe LLG in Lower Jimi, the District recognised the importance of establishing a 15-kilometre access section first.
๐๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ ๐ข๐ง๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ ๐ฆ๐๐ฃ๐จ๐ซ ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ:
1. The 15-kilometre access section connecting the boundary communities between Lower Jimi and Gama; and
2. The 30-kilometre KomowaiโKombaku road section extending further into Gama.
During the road launch, the Member of Parliament announced a plan to deploy two machines to each section so that both areas could progress at the same time.
However, due to current funding limitations, the District made a strategic decision to deploy all four machines to complete the 15-kilometre section first. This decision is aimed at establishing a reliable access corridor, connecting the boundary communities, and completing the first stage faster and to the required standard.
Once the 15-kilometre section is completed, all four machines will be moved to begin construction of the KomowaiโKombaku road section, which remains a priority under the Districtโs long-term road development program.

This road connection also contributes to the broader vision of linking the Gans Maring Census Division in Gama LLG through future road networks from the Mul-Baiyer District in Western Highlands Province, through the Middle Ramu District in Madang Province, and onward to Madang Town.
This vision aligns with the Connect PNG Program, the national highway development initiative supported by the Marape-Rosso Government.

It is important to remember that our Member of Parliament was elected through a by-election and has only been in office for eight months. Despite this limited time, connecting the people of Gamaโespecially the Maring Sense Divisionโhas become one of his major priorities.
For the first time in our history, heavy road construction machinery has reached this area with the purpose of creating permanent road access for communities that have waited for many years.

The geography of Gama remains one of the greatest challenges for road construction. The rugged mountains, steep terrain, river crossings, and remoteness of the Maring Sense Division make road development more difficult and expensive compared to many other areas.
For this reason, establishing a connection through Lower Jimi in Jiwaka Province is currently the most practical and achievable approach. A direct connection from the Madang side presents greater engineering and financial challenges due to the difficult terrain.
Nevertheless, the Usino-Bundi District Development Authority and the Member of Parliament remain committed to ensuring that the people of the Maring Sense Division gain reliable access to services, opportunities, and economic benefits through this important road link.
