WELCOMING THE THIRTEEN (13) BRANCH PRESIDENTS OF ALLIED TRADESMEN, MINING AND CONSTRUCTION WORKERS UNION ...............

WELCOMING THE THIRTEEN (13) BRANCH PRESIDENTS OF ALLIED TRADESMEN, MINING AND CONSTRUCTION WORKERS UNION ................(((())))...................

We have sucessfully created our 'Workplace Watchdog" for the members of the blue collar workforce in all the thirteen (13) mining projects in the country.

After our official launching in April this year, the union executive management will visit each of the branches in all the 13 mining sites in the country. The union reps will officially conduct a Swear-In-Ceremoney for each of the respective Branch Executives of each of the 13 branches.

This will be formally done in a nearest district court by a certified Commissioner of Oaths or a Senior District Court Magistrate. We will stage our official launching for each branch right after the official swear in ceremony.

Upon that, among your colleagues, you and all the other thirteen (13) Branch Presidents and our four Regonal Secretaries have chosen to taken up this leadership at your respective branches and at the regional level.

You will be leading a group of workers who only know very well they are workers who are paid to do a job that is not theirs.

They will have disatifactions and arguments over their employment issues at workplace.

As a leader, you have to provide advise to our members and guide our colleagues to do what is right and justified by Law and to follow the right direction in addressing workplace grievances.

There time when workers are left alone without having a lawyer or a union beside him when it comes to addressing workplace issues affecting a worker.

This makes the employee stand defenseless when the employers take drastic action by applying threats and bully tactics to suppress workers and deny the "right" the worker has in the workplace. It is termed as "employment rights" and those rights are protected by Law.

In a moment like this, the union executives with their union lawyers presence is needed by the aggrieved worker..

IT'S ABOUT TIME ALL THE TRADE UNIONS IN THE MINING SECTOR NEED TO COME OUT OF YOUR HIDINGS AND FORM AN EFFECTIVE NATIONAL UNION TO ADDRESS THE INCREASING WORKFORCE AND TO ADDRESS THE CONTINUED VIOLATION OF WORKERS EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ABUSE IN PNG. ............((()))...........

It's about time Papua New Guinea's blue collar workforce in the Mining, Oil, Gas, Energy and Petroleum Industry to do away with these very small and ineffective mining workers unions groups like ﹰPorgera ﹰAllied ﹰMining ﹰWorkers ﹰUnion, OK Tedi Mining Worker's Union and Ramu Nickel Worker's Union.

Other workers in the Oil, Mining, Gas, Energy and Petroleum Industry in Papua New Guinea are not unionised yet. This gives us a better opportunity to reorganize ourselves in a more better and bigger way for us all to unite together to have a stronger and an effective trade union movement that would carry it's workers banner to represent it's workforce in a more dynamically modern union approach to address the workers grievances effecting one of our largest workforce in the country's increasing mining , gas and oil industry's employment sector.

The government and the giant mining companies have already stepped up with their develop plans to change all.the mining and other resource development projects in the country. This move has already undermined the employment rights of the entire workforce in PNG. It has already started with the giant Porgera Gold Mining and it will continue to affect the other mines in the same manner.

The workers in these areas are not unionised or they may have a small confined workers unions operating silently in their work places. They are ;
● Oil,
●Mining,
●Natural Gas, ●Copper,
●Zinc,
●Iron,
●Metal,
●Ore, and the ●Petroleum
Industries.

Each of the above blue collar workforce accross Papua New Guinea has most of the largest members needed to form a large nationwide united workers union. They are also part of our largest blue collar workforce in...

Harmony Hidden Valley Mine announces 2022 Scholarship winners.

Harmony’s Hidden Valley Mine (HVM) has announced that it is awarding full scholarships to four Morobeans to support them to pursue tertiary studies in several mining-related fields.

“These three outstanding men, and one woman, were among hundreds of promising young Papua New Guineans who responded to the Program. The overwhelming interest we received demonstrates the eagerness of this country’s younger generation to better themselves, and pursue careers in an industry that can significantly benefit Morobe Province, and PNG,” said Kepas Wali, Executive General Manager – Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Affairs, PNG.

But Mr Wali emphasized that the Program is targeted at Morobe Province and key HVM stakeholder groups.

The four awardees for the 2022 Program are from Bulolo, Huon Gulf, and Menyamya districts and are studying Surveying, Mining Engineering, Commerce and Mechanical Engineering at the PNG University of Technology.

Mr Wali said the scholarship support includes opportunities for the four awardees to be engaged on short-term practical stints with the mine.

“It’s very important to us as a business to provide opportunities for skilled and talented Papua New Guineans to participate and contribute to our success, and the economic growth of Morobe.”

“We wish this year’s awardees the best in the coming academic year, and ultimately look forward to offering them employment upon the successful completion of their studies,” he said.

The Scholarship Program targets Morobeans doing a recognised undergraduate degree or Diploma-level program in the following disciplines:
• Mining engineering
• Mechanical engineering
• Electrical engineering
• Geotechnical engineering
• Geology
• Surveying
• Metallurgy
• Environmental Science
• Business – Commercial, Finance, Information Technology, and Human Resources.

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE DISINFORMATION BY EMPLOYERS IN WORKPLACES TO UNDERMINE THE WORKERS' EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS:.................................
We all must know very well and understand political disinformation campaigns can be weaponised to convince workers and undermine democracy – a cynical tactic that help the employers win hearts and minds of the workforce aimed at preventing and administratively sanitizing the freedom of association and the right to membership of a registered trade union.

We can't let this happen again to us who are currently engaged in the Mining, Construction, LNG, Petroleum, Oil and Gas industry in PNG.

This is why the Allied Tradesmen, Construction and Mining Worker's Union has been formed. It will begin it's journey of a million miles beginning from day the Official Launching of Allied Tradesmen Worker's Union of Papua New Guinea is staged at Sir John Guise Indoor Complex in Port Moresby on the15th of April 2022.

Allied Tradesmen, Construction and Mining Worker's Union of PNG's purpose and aim is to declare war against disinformation and anti-union movement in the blue collar sector employment in Papua New Guinea.

We are determined and we are mandated in our capacity as a registered trade union representating this very important workforce in the country. Established by an Act of Parliament, we will fight tooth and nail to ensure there is freedom of association and right to mebership of a trade union is not disinformed, obstructed, breached and violated by any employees in the mining, construction, gas, oil, petroleum and in the construction sector in Papua New Guinea.

Allied Tradesmen Worker's Union's mandatory obligation is to represent the blue collar workforce and we are specialised in developing strategies to tackle disinformation, threat, violations and breach of employment rights for the workforce.

Trade Unions represent the workforce and speak about the threat disinformation poses to em
