🤟 International Day of Sign Languages 🤟
At Buk bilong Pikinini we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, communicate, participate and feel included.
To mark International Day of Sign Languages, our children explored different ways of communicating through reading our Inclusive Education Readers "I Am Noah"and "My special Stories"
They also took part in learning the sign language alphabet. These activities helped children understand that people communicate in different ways and that sign language is an important way for Deaf people to express themselves, learn and connect with others.
Sign language is a recognised and official language of Papua New Guinea, and at BbP, sign language is taught as part of our Inclusive Early Childhood Education Program.
We also develop resources, training and books to raise awareness of the needs of children living with disabilities.
Through inclusive learning environments, we encourage kindness, respect and understanding, helping to build a society where everyone is valued and given equal opportunities. 💚🤟📚
