Wapenamanda Marks Historic Milestone with Groundbreaking of HIV One-Stop Centre

The National AIDS Council Secretariat (NACS), in partnership with the Wapenamanda District Development Authority (WDDA), today 17 July 2026, marked the groundbreaking of Papua New Guinea’s first HIV Integrated One-Stop Service Centre in Wapenamanda, Enga Province. The K4.7 million facility is a major step towards strengthening HIV prevention, treatment, and support services closer to communities.

Once completed, the facility will provide HIV testing, treatment, counselling, prevention services, and support for survivors of gender-based violence under one roof. The project reflects NACS’ commitment to decentralizing HIV services and improving access to quality healthcare across Papua New Guinea.

The Wapenamanda centre is the first of similar facilities planned for high-burden provinces as Papua New Guinea works towards achieving the global 95-95-95 HIV targets by 2030. Highlights and full story from today’s ceremony will be shared soon.
