• Know which days you will not be paid.
• Make sure you have enough money for the Christmas break.
• If you don’t have enough savings, ask your employer if they can give an advance payment.

🌏❤️WORLD AIDS DAY ! LET’S STAND TOGETHER

Before today ends, we join the global community in recognising World AIDS Day, a powerful reminder to unite in ending HIV/AIDS in our society.

Did you know?
Papua New Guinea continues to have one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the Asia-Pacific region, with women and girls disproportionately affected.

According to UNAIDS, PNG accounts for a significant number of HIV cases in the Pacific.

As we raise awareness, we also:
Remember those we have lost
Celebrate and support those living with HIV
Recommit to ending the epidemic
Continue breaking stigma and promoting compassion

Please take a moment today to read the latest UNAIDS press release and country reports to stay informed:

"Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women."

"Today, we stand together to say NO to violence against women and girls!"

Let's unite to create a safer, more equal, and just society for all. Every woman and girl deserves to live free from fear, respect, and dignity. As our theme for 2025 states, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls,” let us all work together to create a safe digital space for one and all.

We must at all times prevent violence and support survivors. Together, we break the silence, shatter the stigma, and end violence in all its forms. You are not alone, you are valued, and you are heard.

🇵🇬 William Baru, from Papua New Guinea, applied to work in Australia on the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme in 2019.

He said it was a culture shock at first, but he soon dug in.

“Life in PNG is different to life in Australia. So I have to concentrate on my goals in order to achieve what I want,” he said.

William says he has achieved many goals – renovating his parents’ house, opening a store and helping his wife Nancy and their two daughters.

He also says the skills he learnt in Queensland will help him generate income in Papua New Guinea.

“I am very interested to put up a poultry farm here – to apply all the skills I have learnt overseas.

“It was hard for me to leave my family, but they were happy for me to go overseas and work.

“My life has improved a lot. It brings a lot to the family and the community as well.”

🇵🇬 Billy Virobo is the proud father of Papua New Guinea Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme worker, Kaia, who is working at a meat processing plant in Kilcoy in rural Queensland.

💵 Kaia is earning money to help house her parents and pay for their medical bills. She is supporting her whole family and changing their lives in the process.

Billy shares, "Kaia was very lucky to be selected for work in Australia. We had a lot of problems in life – at times it is very hard – we struggle – I am not employed, but since Kaia was selected (for the PALM scheme), she has been helping us.

“Kaia helped us when our son passed away in 2017. She helped us with his headstone on his grave. I’m very, very proud of Kaia.”

🏥 Billy explains that Kaia has also been helping with the family’s medical bills.

“Me and my wife – her mother – have been going through a lot. Kaia has been helping us through hospital bills and our transport to go to the hospital.

“I am very grateful to her. I pray that God will bless Kaia and take care of her through her life.”

Kaia’s sacrifices and hard work have not only provided financial support to her loved ones but have also brought them health, hope and stability.
