𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | BSAB Seminar on Academic Writing, Research Excellence, and Professional Development 🌱📚

On July 13, 2026, the WPU CAFES Agribusiness Department successfully conducted another enriching session of the BSAB Seminar on Academic Writing, Research Excellence, and Professional Development, reaffirming its commitment to developing competent, ethical, and research-driven future agribusiness professionals.

The seminar featured two insightful sessions that provided the BSAB 4th Year students with practical knowledge essential for their academic and professional journey.

Session 3: Gender and Development Orientation for Researchers and Practicum Students
Resource Speaker: Mr. Jade Baguna
GFPS Secretariat Member

The session highlighted the importance of Gender and Development (GAD), inclusivity, gender analysis, and ethical considerations in conducting research and practicum activities.

Participants were encouraged to integrate gender-responsive and inclusive approaches into their academic work, practicum activities and future professional practice.

Session 6: Seminar on Writing a Business/Communication Letter
Resource Speaker: Mr. Dale C. Caabas
Faculty, College of Education

Participants enjoyed the session through a very interactive and engaging activities conducted. They have also learned the fundamentals of writing effective business and communication letters, emphasizing proper format and writing, professionalism, clarity, and appropriate communication for both academic and workplace settings.

The seminar concluded with an engaging Question and Answer session, where students actively interacted with the speakers and deepened their understanding of the topics discussed. This was followed by the Awarding of Certificates, expressing sincere appreciation to our distinguished resource speakers through Certificates of Appreciation for generously sharing their expertise, experiences, and invaluable insights.

More than just a seminar, the event served as a platform for empowering students to become effective communicators, socially responsible researchers, and future professionals equipped with the knowledge and values needed to make meaningful contributions to the agricultural sector and beyond.

The WPU IDEA Pitch Competition 2026 successfully launched the first sessions of the Young Agripreneur Enterprise Advancement Webinar Series on July 10, 2026. The activity brought together aspiring agripreneurs, student innovators, and young entrepreneurs for a meaningful day of learning, collaboration, and inspiration.

Through the guidance of distinguished resource speakers, the participants gained practical knowledge and valuable insights that will help them refine their business concepts and prepare for the upcoming WPU IDEA Pitch Competition.

Asst. Prof. Lleve discussed the importance of accurately determining business costs and setting appropriate prices. Participants gained a deeper understanding of costing methods and pricing strategies that can help them develop competitive, profitable, and financially sustainable agribusiness enterprises.

The webinar concluded with an engaging open forum, during which participants raised relevant questions, shared their ideas, and received practical advice from the resource speakers. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the speakers in recognition of their expertise and invaluable contributions, while certificates were also awarded to the participants for their active involvement in the activity.

𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | Agribusiness 4th Year Students' Seminar 2026

The WPU CAFES Agribusiness Department successfully conducted the BSAB Seminar on Academic Writing, Research Excellence, and Professional Development, equipping our graduating Ka-Agrib with the knowledge, skills, and professional values needed as they prepare for their practicum, research, and future careers.

Throughout the seminar, participants engaged in a series of insightful sessions designed to strengthen both their academic and professional competencies:

Session 1: Enhancing Practicum Quality, Relevance, and Profitability

Participants learned practical strategies for improving the overall quality, relevance, and profitability of their practicum projects, helping them maximize real-world learning experiences.

Session 2: Practicum Proposal and Report Writing

Asst. Prof. Aimee P. Olpenda, Faculty, Agribusiness Department

Students were guided on writing and finalizing practicum proposals and narrative reports using the official practicum template and proper documentation standards.

Session 3: Research Ethics, Artificial Intelligence, and Academic Integrity

Engr. Ivane Ann Banlawe, Faculty, College of Engineering and Technology

Participants explored the importance of ethical research practices, the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools,, and maintaining academic integrity by avoiding plagiarism.

The seminar concluded with an engaging Question and Answer session, followed by the Awarding of Certificates of Appreciation given to our esteemed resource speakers in recognition of their invaluable time, expertise, and meaningful contributions to the success of the seminar.

The WPU Agribusiness Department is currently conducting a 𝐁𝐒𝐀𝐁 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 for all BS Agribusiness fourth-year students currently enrolled in Practicum and Thesis during the 1st Semester, AY 2026–2027.

This seven-part seminar series aims to strengthen students’ competencies in academic writing, practicum and thesis preparation, research ethics, gender responsiveness, communication, and publication readiness as they prepare for the successful completion of their academic requirements.

WELCOME TO THE BS AGRIBUSINESS FAMILY! 💚💛

A new chapter begins for our newest Ka-Agribs!

The WPU CAFES Agribusiness Department officially welcomed its first-year BS Agribusiness students during the Department Orientation, marking the start of their academic journey toward becoming future agripreneurs, innovators, and leaders.

The orientation served as an opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of the BS Agribusiness program, its academic expectations, and the many opportunities that await them in the field of agriculture, business, and enterprise development. Asst. Prof. Eduardo E. Lleve Jr., Agribusiness Program Chair, shared important program information, program curriculum, presented the faculty members and encouraged the students to embrace their journey with commitment, purpose, and passion.

Adding inspiration to the event, Ma’am Mae Maranan highlighted the true essence of Agribusiness—emphasizing that it goes beyond farming. Agribusiness connects agriculture with entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing, sustainability, and community development, preparing students to become future-ready professionals who can create meaningful impact in the industry and society.

The students were also warmly welcomed by the Agribusiness faculty members, who expressed their support and commitment to guide, mentor, and inspire the students throughout their college journey.

To make the welcome even more special, the Agribusiness Students’ Association (ASA) surprised the freshmen with simple gifts as tokens of appreciation and belonging.

More than just presents, these gifts symbolize the warmth, support, and unity of the BS Agribusiness family.
