ABULUG, CAGAYAN โ September 8, 2026 โ Young aspiring food entrepreneurs from the Abulug School of Fisheries took their skills beyond the classroom as they participated in a Skills Training on Meat Processing cm Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) held on September 8, 2026, at the Abulug School of Fisheries, Centro, Abulug, Cagayan.
The activity was conducted through the collaborative efforts of Negosyo Center Abulug, PESO Abulug, and Abulug School of Fisheries, with the goal of equipping 22 Senior High School students specializing in Food Processing with practical skills, food safety knowledge, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Leading the discussion on food safety and proper production practices was Mr. Jose C. Talosig III, Negosyo Center Business Counsellor, who served as the speaker on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). He emphasized the importance of cleanliness, proper personal hygiene, sanitation, safe food handling, and maintaining quality standards throughout the production process.
Bringing the learning to life, Ms. Marites Camarauan of DTI Region II served as the hands-on trainer for meat processing, guiding the students through the actual preparation and processing of meat products. With her technical guidance, the participants gained practical experience in transforming raw materials into marketable food products.
The students actively participated in the preparation of nuggets, siomai, and tocino, showcasing their creativity and newly acquired food processing skills. More than simply producing food, the activity encouraged the students to see how their skills can potentially become livelihood opportunities and future food-processing businesses.
Adding inspiration to the activity, Ms. Rochelyn Bautista, PESO Manager of Abulug, stated that this skills training does not only provide knowledge to the students on meat processing but also to prepare them in life as this could also be a valuable skill for a livelihood opportunity in the future. She highlighted the importance of developing practical skills, believing in one's capabilities, and being open to entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
The training provided the students with a valuable combination of technical knowledge, hands-on experience, food safety practices, and entrepreneurial inspirationโessential foundations for young people who aspire to become future foodpreneurs.
From the classroom to the kitchenโand potentially to the marketplaceโthe young foodpreneurs of Abulug are learning that their skills can be the first ingredient to a brighter future.
