The Municipality of Albuera successfully conducted a Nutrition Month Culmination 2026 at the Albuera Multipurpose Gym of Barangay Poblacion, Albuera, Leyte.

As part of the activity, MENRO Albuera distributed fruit-bearing tree seedlings and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on proper solid waste management to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the community.

This initiative highlights the municipality’s dedication to public service, environmental protection, and community development.

International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem or the World Mangrove Day 2026 | July 31, 2026

In celebration of World Mangrove Day, the Municipality of Albuera, through the MENRO, successfully conducted a Mangrove Planting Activity at the Brgy. Damulaan, Albuera, Leyte.

The activity was participated in by the Philippine Coast Guard, Boys Scouts and Girl scouts of the Philippines DGBZMSF Chapter, Yes-O Seguinon Stand Alone Senior High School, SSLG Seguinon Stand Alone Senior High School, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines Seguinon Chapter, LYDO, San Miguel Corporation, Rite Meat, Pryce Gases Inc., IMP Shipyard and Port Services Inc., Premium Infinite Mining Inc., Megaship Builders Inc., Brgy. Damulaan officials and volunteers, MENRO staff, and Eco-Person volunteers.

World Mangrove Day is celebrated every year on July 26. Officially called the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, it was established by UNESCO to raise awareness about the value of these coastal forests and to promote their protection.

Through mangrove planting during World Mangrove Day empower LGUs to fight climate change while directly protecting coastal communities. These activity act as frontline nature-based solutions, preventing erosion, absorbing carbon, providing marine habitats, and ensuring cleaner, safer coastlines for residents. It also highlights the vital role of mangroves in coastal protection, biodiversity, and climate change mitigation.

Philippine Arbor Day 2026 | June 25, 2026

In celebration of Philippine Arbor Day, the Municipality of Albuera, through the MENRO, successfully conducted a Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Activity at the Brgy. Seguinon, Albuera, Leyte.

The activity was participated in by the DENR CENRO Ormoc Personnel, Philippine Coast Guard, Boyscout of the Philippines Seguinon Chapter, LYDC, Brgy. Seguinon officials and volunteers, MENRO staff, and Eco-Person volunteers.

Philippine Arbor Day is observed nationwide on June 25 to promote environmental conservation and climate resilience through massive tree planting drives.

Through mangrove planting and coastal clean-ups during Philippine Arbor Day empower LGUs to fight climate change while directly protecting coastal communities. These dual activities act as frontline nature-based solutions, preventing erosion, absorbing carbon, providing marine habitats, and ensuring cleaner, safer coastlines for residents.

In celebration of Philippine Environment Month, the Municipality of Albuera, through the MENRO, successfully conducted a Tree Planting and Tree Growing Activity at the Brgy. Salvacion, Albuera, Leyte.

The activity was participated in by the Philippine Coast Guard, Premium Megastructures Inc., Premium Infinite Mining Inc., Macagpo Cambalading Farmer Irrigators' Association (MACASUFIA) Inc., Cambalading Talisayan Farmer Irrigators' Association (CATAFIA) Inc., Albuera Calingatnan Rice Farmer Irrigators' Association Inc., Albuera Tabgas Farmer Irrigators' Association Inc., United Palanas Farmer Irrigators' Association (UPFIA) Inc., Albuera Salvacion Antipolo Irrigators' Association (ALSAIA) Inc., Mahatag Tinag-an Unified Farmer Irrigators' Association (MATIFIA) Inc., Albuera Panilahan Farmer Irrigators' Association (ALPAFIA) Inc., Brgy. Salvacion officials and volunteers, MENRO staff, and Eco-Person volunteers.

Tree planting and tree growing are critical initiatives for sustaining life. While planting starts the tree, tree growing the long term care and nurturing of the sapling ensures it survives. Together, they mitigate climate change, conserve biodiversity, secure food and livelihoods, and improve human mental health.

Through tree planting and tree growing initiatives are vital for LGU to combat climate change, preserving local biodiversity, and protecting vulnerable communities from environmental hazards.

World Oceans Day 2026 | June 8, 2026

In celebration of World Oceans Day, the Municipality of Albuera, through the MENRO and in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard, successfully conducted a Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Activity at the Brgy. Damulaan Protected Mangrove Area.

The activity was participated in by the Philippine Coast Guard, IMP Shipyard Port and Services Inc., Megaship Builders Inc., Brgy. Damulaan officials and volunteers, MENRO staff, and Eco-Person volunteers.

Mangrove planting and coastal clean-up efforts help restore coastal ecosystems, protect shorelines from erosion and storm surges, conserve marine biodiversity, and strengthen community resilience against the impacts of climate change.

Today, Albuera did more than plant mangroves and clean our shores. We planted hope, strengthened resilience, and reaffirmed our shared responsibility to protect the oceans that sustain us...

A healthy South Philippine Hawk-Eagle was successfully turned over and released into the Albuera/Burauen forest.

The adult female, measuring approximately 55 cm in length and weighing around 1.1 kg, was rescued by Mr. Jason Maragana of Brgy. Doña Maria, Albuera, Leyte, and endorsed to MENRO Albuera.

Through the joint efforts of MENRO, MDRRMO, and OMA Albuera, the Hawk Eagle was safely returned to its natural habitat.

The South Philippine Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus pinskeri), also called Pinsker's hawk-eagle, is an endangered forest raptor endemic to the Philippines. It primarily inhabits the islands of Mindanao, Leyte, Samar, Negros, Basilan, and Bohol. These magnificent birds are threatened by severe habitat loss, hunting, illegal pet trade, and trapping.

Let us be reminded that harming or capturing wildlife is prohibited under Republic Act No. 9147. We encourage everyone to protect and respect our wildlife. If you encounter wild animals, report to the proper authorities and allow them to handle the situation safely and responsibly.
