International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem or the World Mangrove Day 2026 | July 31, 2026
In celebration of World Mangrove Day, the Municipality of Albuera, through the MENRO, successfully conducted a Mangrove Planting Activity at the Brgy. Damulaan, Albuera, Leyte.
The activity was participated in by the Philippine Coast Guard, Boys Scouts and Girl scouts of the Philippines DGBZMSF Chapter, Yes-O Seguinon Stand Alone Senior High School, SSLG Seguinon Stand Alone Senior High School, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines Seguinon Chapter, LYDO, San Miguel Corporation, Rite Meat, Pryce Gases Inc., IMP Shipyard and Port Services Inc., Premium Infinite Mining Inc., Megaship Builders Inc., Brgy. Damulaan officials and volunteers, MENRO staff, and Eco-Person volunteers.
World Mangrove Day is celebrated every year on July 26. Officially called the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, it was established by UNESCO to raise awareness about the value of these coastal forests and to promote their protection.
Through mangrove planting during World Mangrove Day empower LGUs to fight climate change while directly protecting coastal communities. These activity act as frontline nature-based solutions, preventing erosion, absorbing carbon, providing marine habitats, and ensuring cleaner, safer coastlines for residents. It also highlights the vital role of mangroves in coastal protection, biodiversity, and climate change mitigation.
