thru the initiative of our newbie Sangguniang Bayan Member Dhan Castillo ........an Ordinance regarding Drug-free workplace of the LGU Alfonso Castañeda Nueva Vizcaya 👍👍👍

APPROVED ORDINANCE!! 👏👏👏

Antonio, 1904

During the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, an anthropological exhibit featured more than one hundred individuals from the northern Philippines in a 47-acre display known as the “Igorot Village.” The term Igorot was broadly used to describe various ethnic groups living in the mountainous regions of northern Philippines.

Participants were brought to the United States along with traditional houses, tools, and cultural materials to recreate scenes of everyday life. Throughout the exposition, they lived within the village, performed religious rituals, and demonstrated traditional crafts for visitors.

On August 9, 1904, a delegation of eight men from the Bontoc, Suyoc, and Bangsamoro groups visited Theodore Roosevelt at the White House. A 15-year-old interpreter named Antero assisted the group. The delegation included leaders such as a Bontoc chief, priest, and judge; a Suyoc chief; and a Bangsamoro chief accompanied by two guards. During the visit, they presented the president with spears and shields and met members of his cabinet in both his private office and the Cabinet Room.

These events took place shortly after the Philippine–American War and during the ongoing Moro Rebellion. Both the Igorot Village exhibit and the White House meeting formed part of a broader effort to gain public support for continued U.S. colonial involvement in the Philippines.

The colorized image referenced shows Antonio, a Bontoc Igorot chief, at the Igorot Village during the fair. He was one of the eight men who later visited President Roosevelt at the White House.
