The Department of Tourism โ€“ Zamboanga Peninsula (DOT-IX) extends its appreciation to all LGU tourism stakeholders, Tourism Officers, tourism partners, and tour operators who joined us at the Mindanao Tourism Expo (MTEX) 2026 in Sultan Kudarat. The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region IX brought the vibrant spirit of Zamboanga Peninsula to the opening day of the Mindanao Tourism Expo (MTEX) 2026 in Sultan Kudarat, showcasing the regionโ€™s diverse tourism destinations, local products, cultural heritage, and creative offerings.

Various Local Government Units (LGUs) and tourism stakeholders from Region IX came together to promote and showcase their unique tourism offerings, including destinations, cultural experiences, local delicacies, and proudly made products. The participating destinations highlighted the rich heritage, creativity, and unique experiences that visitors can discover across the region.

Through MTEX 2026, DOT Region IX continues to support its partner LGUs and tourism stakeholders by providing opportunities to promote their destinations, products, and experiences to a wider audience. The expo also serves as a platform to strengthen partnerships and encourage greater interest in exploring the diverse tourism offerings of Western Mindanao.

Alicia goes to MTEx 2026 in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat!

The LGU-Alicia Tourism Office through the Department of Tourism โ€” Region IX participated in the 4th Mindanao Tourism Expo 2026 held in Sultan Kudarat Sports Complex. Hosted by the SOCCSKSARGEN Region, this event aims at showcasing the wonders of the Regions in Mindanao through B2B activity of the Travel and Tour Operators, and presentation of tourism attractions and local products by the Regions from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. We brought some of our local products such as the Binder Bags of Brgy. Poblacion and Beads made by our women from Brgy. Milagrosa. Several LGUs and tourism stakeholders from Region 9 likewise participated and showed support in this 4-day Exposition by bringing their local products.

We thank the LGU-Alicia headed by Mayor Alvie Musa, Al-hadj and the DOT-IX under the helm of RD Dara May L. Cataluรฑa for this platform in showcasing our local products and allowing us to connect with other partners in the tourism industry. โค๏ธ

October is National Indigenous Peopleโ€™s Month! ๐ŸคŽ

The Local Government Unit of Alicia, through its Tourism Office, proudly recognizes and celebrates the Indigenous Peoples whose stories, traditions, knowledge, arts, and way of life form an important part of our communityโ€™s cultural identity.

Their traditions are not only a connection to our past but also a living heritage that continues to enrich our present and inspire future generations. Through culture, traditional practices, craftsmanship, music, dance, and their deep connection with nature, our Indigenous Peoples contribute to the diversity and character of Alicia.

As we celebrate this month, may we continue to respect, preserve, promote, and protect Indigenous culture and heritage, while creating opportunities for meaningful participation and recognition of our Indigenous communities in local development and tourism.

ALICIA ECO-TOUR GUIDES TRAINING ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ“ธ

The LGU-Alicia under the stalwart leadership of Hon. Ardin B. Musa, Al-hadj through its Tourism Office in collaboration with the Department of Tourism โ€” Zamboanga Peninsula Region successfully conducted a 6-day ECO-GUIDES TRAINING AND SEMINAR.

The said training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective NATURE GUIDING and seeks to enhance the tour guiding techniques of our tour guides to promote visitor safety, improve the overall tourist experience.

The training is composed of a series of activities such as:
1. BASIC ECO-GUIDING COURSE WITH WASAR โ€” an intensive program that equips eco-tour guides with wilderness survival and aquatic emergency response skills conducted by Cadres Myrna Amon, Edwin Aguilar, and Melchor Padilla held at KING JIM BEACH RESORT.
2. BIRD WATCHING ACTIVITY โ€” an outdoor activity that teaches participants with the different FLORA & FAUNA, Ecotourism, and Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism conducted by Mr. Adrian Constantino and Mr. Antonio Felipe Arbias held at BRGY. LUTIMAN.
3. BECOMING A TOUR-GUIDE โ€” equipping participants with the Tour Guide Techniques, the Doโ€™s and Dontโ€™s, and the Tour Guide Code of Ethical Standard Specialist Guiding with a Site-Based Tour Guiding Demonstration by a professional tour guide conducted by Mr. Errold Lim Bayona held at ALNEMPCO Function Hall.

The LGU-Alicia would like to thank the Department of Tourism - Zamboanga Peninsula Office and the Barangays Lutiman, Lambuyogan, Timbang-Timbang, Alegria, Litayon, Bagong-Buhay, and Naga-Naga for making these activity a success. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป
