Anchored on the theme, β€œBayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” the Schools District of Anilao officially launched District Brigada Eskwela 2026 on June 2, 2026, at the Anilao Central Elementary School.

The activity brought together educators, stakeholders, community partners, and volunteers in a shared effort to prepare schools for the opening of classes and ensure a safe, clean, and learner-friendly environment.

The event was graced by Mayor Matet Debuque, who reaffirmed the local government's commitment to supporting education. In her message, she emphasized that Brigada Eskwela is not merely about painting walls, preparing facilities, or cleaning school grounds. It is about building hope, strengthening partnerships, and showing our learners that their community believes in them and in their future.

The launch highlighted the power of unity, volunteerism, and shared responsibility in creating sdchools where every learner can thrive and succeed.

As part of the Ocean Month Celebration last May, the Municipality successfully conducted a SCUBA Diving Training and Certification Program through the support of the U.S. Peace Corps Grant, made possible through the dedicated efforts of our Peace Corps Volunteer, Anya Kirshner.

This initiative aimed to strengthen marine environmental awareness, promote ocean conservation, and enhance the capabilitieof participants in marine and coastal resourcsuortee management.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our SCUBA Instructor, Mr. Homer Hernandez, for generously sharing his valuable insights, knowledge, and extensive experience throughout the training activity. His expertise greatly contributed to the success of the program and inspired participants to further appreciate and protect our marine ecosystems.

Mr. Hernandez also played a significant role in the establishment of the Anilao Coral Garden, which continues to serve as an important symbol of our commitment to marine biodiversity conservation and sustainable coastal management.

Through collaborative efforts and community participation, we remain committed to protecting and preserving our coastal resources for future generations.

Huge congratulations to our very own Mrs. Fremsette Leah Patriarca-Nazareth of Mostro National High School for being named one of the Outstanding Troop Leaders of the Philippines!

Out of countless leaders nationwide, she is one of only three exceptional troop leaders to receive the prestigious Josefa Llanes Escoda bust trophy. Along with this high honor, she was awarded a certificate and a β‚±50,000 International Travel Grant during the Girl Scouts of the Philippines' (GSP) 86th Anniversary ceremony at Centro Turismo, Intramuros, Manila today, May 26, 2026.

This national award recognizes her incredible community contributions and her unwavering dedication to shaping responsible young Girl Scouts. Mrs. Nazareth earned this distinction after a rigorous screening process that reviewed her troop logbooks, notebooks, and an online interview.

Her stellar track record speaks for itself, having produced numerous Chief Girl Scout Medalists and mentoring Myca Mae Dela Cruz, an IP member who became the first-ever Concepcion Rafolz Gonzalez (CRG) awardee in 2021. Furthermore, she led her troop to a spectacular 2nd-place finish in the Pilar Hidalgo-Lim (PHL) awards in 2022.
Celebrating this milestone with her in Manila were Iloilo Girl Scout Council President Joy de Leon, Council Executive Marie Claire Laru-an, and GSP Central Board Member Mrs. Bombing Coo.

The Local Government Unit of Anilao, under the leadership of Mayor Ma. Teresa F. Debuque, joins the faithful community in solemn thanksgiving and joyful veneration as the town celebrated the blessed Fiesta of Saint Rita of Cascia, the beloved patroness whose life of enduring faith, humility, forgiveness, and perseverance continues to inspire the hearts of the people of Anilao.

A sacred highlight of this year’s celebration was the Solemn Concelebrated Mass held at the Parish of Sta. Rita de Cascia, where the faithful were deeply honored and spiritually uplifted by the gracious presence of Most Rev. Midyphil β€œDodong” Billones, D.D., Archbishop of Jaro, who presided over the Eucharistic Celebration together with the co-celebrating priests.

His Grace’s inspiring homily reminded the faithful to remain steadfast in prayer and trust in God amidst life’s trials, reflecting the very virtues exemplified by Saint Rita of Cascia.

Through the Holy Eucharist, the community gathered as one family in profound gratitude for the countless blessings, guidance, and intercessions received through the patroness.

The celebration became a moving testimony of Anilao’s enduring Catholic faith and unwavering devotion, as devotees filled the church in prayerful reverence and thanksgiving. The solemn veneration offered to Saint Rita of Cascia reflected the people’s continuing spiritual connection to their patroness, whose example of hope and surrender to God remains alive in the community.

The Local Government Unit extends its heartfelt gratitude to the clergy, parish ministries, church workers, devotees, sponsors, and all Anilaonons whose faith and participation made the celebration meaningful and spiritually enriching.

As night fell, the atmosphere shifted from the high-octane street beats to the breathtaking, soulful melodies of Anilao’s Symphony of Strings and Soul. The Anilao Strings Ensemble took center stage for a magnificent culminating concert. Guided by the exceptional mentorship of Mrs. Nazel D. Aragones, Mr. Teodolfo G. Cordero, and Mrs. Carmela G. Cordero, the talented students completely mesmerized the crowd. From moving Ilonggo Folk Collections, Nursery Rhymes Collections to Timeless International Classics, their performance was grand milestone would not have been possible without the stellar leadership and vision of our Municipal Mayor, Hon.
