What is CTPL (Compulsory Third-Party Liability) Insurance?
CTPL is a mandatory insurance required by the Philippine government before you can register or renew a motor vehicle with the LTO.
🔹 Purpose
CTPL is designed to protect third parties (people outside the vehicle) who may be injured or killed in an accident caused by the insured vehicle.
🔹 Who is covered?
Pedestrians
Passengers
Other drivers or road users
❌ Not the vehicle owner
❌ Not the driver at fault
🔹 What does it cover?
Medical expenses for injured third party
Death benefits for third party victims
🔹 Why is it required?
You cannot register your vehicle in LTO without CTPL. It’s part of the legal requirements.
🔹 Important to remember
CTPL is very limited. It does NOT cover:
Damage to your own vehicle
Damage to other vehicles/property
Your own injuries
