CSU APARRI STRENGTHENS GLOBAL OUTLOOK AS ASEAN CELEBRATION 2026 OFFICIALLY OPENS

Cagayan State University Aparri Campus officially launched its ASEAN Celebration 2026 through a vibrant kick-off program today bringing together faculty members, personnel, and students in a meaningful observance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its ideals of regional cooperation, cultural appreciation, and global citizenship.

With the theme "Fostering Unity, Diversity, and Global Competence," the celebration highlighted the university's commitment to strengthening internationalization initiatives and cultivating a deeper understanding of the rich cultural heritage shared among ASEAN member states.

Dr. Policarpio L. Mabborang Jr., the Campus Executive Officer, delivered the opening message, emphasizing the importance of embracing cultural diversity, promoting international collaboration, and preparing students to become globally competitive professionals.

Meanwhile, a special message from the OIC-President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez was delivered, reaffirming the institution's commitment to fostering academic excellence, cross-cultural engagement, and stronger partnerships within the ASEAN community.

One of the program's highlights was the Presentation of Mr. and Ms. ASEAN, where the different colleges together with the Faculty and Personnel groups represented ASEAN member countries through creative cultural attire and presentations.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Corazon T. Talamayan, Campus Director for Academic Affairs, encouraged everyone to continue embracing the values of unity, inclusivity, and international cooperation beyond the celebration.

As part of the month-long observance, the campus will continue the celebration through a series of short ASEAN-themed activities every Monday throughout August, which will be spearheaded by the different colleges .

The ASEAN Celebration forms part of the University's continuing efforts to promote internationalization by providing opportunities for students and employees to appreciate regional cultures, strengthen global perspectives, and develop competencies essential in an increasingly interconnected world.

PROF. BANGI ASSUMES KEY RESEARCH AND INNOVATION LEADERSHIP POSTS AT CSUA

Cagayan State University Aparri Campus has designated Prof. Helen Grace P. Bangi, PhD, as the new Campus Director for Research Development and Extension (RDE) and Campus Knowledge and Technology Management (KTM) Coordinator, entrusting her with the leadership of the campus’ research, development, and extension initiatives.

The appointment underscores the university’s confidence in Prof. Bangi’s extensive experience in academic leadership and research management.

As a Professor VI, she has consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement, contributing to the advancement of the university’s mandate in instruction, research, extension, and production.

Prior to her new designation, she served as College Research Coordinator, where she spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing research productivity and fostering a culture of scholarship among faculty members and students. She also held the position of Department Chair of Marine Biology, Aquatic Resources, and Ecology, providing strategic direction in academic administration, curriculum development, and program implementation.

Throughout her professional career, Prof. Bangi has actively championed research and extension programs that promote knowledge creation, technology dissemination, and community empowerment.

Her designation is expected to further strengthen CSU Aparri’s commitment to research excellence, innovation, and impactful extension services that address the needs of both the academic community and society.

DR. DONIEGO IS THE NEW DEAN OF CBEA

Dr. Nancy E. Doniego, CPA, an Associate Professor I of Cagayan State University Aparri Campus, has been officially designated as the new Dean of the College of Business Entrepreneurship and Accountancy (CBEA) through a Special Order on the Designation of Campus Officials issued by the Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University President and released on July 6, 2026.

The designation recognizes Dr. Doniego’s extensive experience in academic administration and financial management, having served the campus in various key leadership roles over the years and is expected to further strengthen the college’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and quality service.

Before assuming her new role as dean, Dr. Doniego served as Officer-in-Charge Campus Accountant from December 2023 to March 2024, where she supervised accounting operations and ensured the efficient management of the campus’ financial resources.

She also held the position of Campus Budget Officer from February 2019 to December 2023, contributing significantly to budget preparation, fiscal planning, and resource management initiatives that supported the campus’ strategic and operational priorities.

As a faculty member, Dr. Doniego currently holds the academic rank of Associate Professor I, reflecting her continued contributions to instruction, research, extension, and professional service in the fields of business and accountancy education.

CSU APARRI GRADUATE PROGRAMS EARN SIKAP SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Cagayan State University Aparri Campus has achieved another significant milestone in graduate education as three of its advanced degree programs were officially recognized as eligible under the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Scholarship for Staff and Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP).

The Doctor of Philosophy in Education major in Educational Management (PhD EM) was approved as a Delivering Higher Education Institution (DHEI) under the SIKAP Program following CHED’s evaluation of the campus’ submitted documents and compliance with the requirements set forth in the updated SIKAP Handbook.

Further enhancing opportunities for educators and aspiring scholars, the Master of Arts in Education major in English (MAEd English) was endorsed by CHED Regional Office II for inclusion in the list of SIKAP-eligible graduate programs, affirming its adherence to national standards and scholarship program requirements.

Likewise, the Master of Science in Teaching major in Mathematics (MST Mathematics) received CHED endorsement for inclusion in the roster of SIKAP-eligible graduate programs, expanding access to advanced studies for mathematics educators seeking professional growth and academic advancement.

The inclusion of these graduate programs in the SIKAP Scholarship Program enables qualified faculty members, instructors, and education professionals to pursue graduate studies with financial support aimed at strengthening teaching competence, research capability, and leadership in higher education.

Cagayan State University Aparri Campus continues to expand its graduate education offerings after securing Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office II for three advanced degree programs that further reinforce the campus’ commitment to academic excellence and professional development.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Education major in Educational Management (PhD EM) received CHED approval through CEB Resolution No. 661-2025, affirming the program’s compliance with national quality standards and its readiness to develop educational leaders, administrators, and researchers equipped to address contemporary challenges in the education sector.

Further strengthening its graduate portfolio, CSU Aparri also obtained CHED approval for the Master of Arts in Education major in English (MAEd English) under CEB Resolution No. R040-2026, providing educators and language practitioners with advanced opportunities to enhance their expertise in English language teaching, curriculum development, and educational research.

CSU APARRI GRADUATE SCHOOL JOINS BALIKSALIKSIK INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC AND EXTENSION COLLOQUIUM

The Graduate School of Cagayan State University Aparri participated in the Balik Saliksik International Academic and Extension Colloquium held on June 26–27, 2026, at the CSU Andrews Convention Center, an event spearheaded by the University in partnership with the Association of International Dynamic Educators, Inc. (AIDE) that gathered scholars, researchers, educators, and academic leaders from various institutions and countries.

Leading the CSU Aparri Graduate School delegation was Dr. Mark John M. Tamanu, Graduate School Dean, together with Graduate School faculty members and students whose attendance demonstrated the campus’ commitment to strengthening research engagement, academic collaboration, and internationalization initiatives.

The colloquium featured a series of discussions and presentations by international scholars and educators who shared valuable insights on authentic educational leadership, classical learning in the classroom, information technology integration in education and governance, and mental health among occupationally exposed groups, thereby enriching participants’ understanding of contemporary educational and societal concerns.

During the second day of the colloquium, three CSU Aparri Graduate School students presented their research studies before fellow researchers, educators, and academic practitioners, with Dr. Arlene Talosa sharing her study titled “Quiet Quitting Behaviors, Organizational Happiness and Work Performance of CSU Designated Officials: Basis for an Intervention Plan,” Dr. Shailanie Rivera presenting “Adversity Quotient, Academic Stress and College Readiness as Determinants of Mathematics Performance,” and Mr. Mark Joseph Tintero discussing “Prompt Engineering Competence and AI-Assisted Academic Writing Quality among English as a Second Language Learners in Criminal Justice Education,” thereby showcasing the relevance, rigor, and scholarly contributions of graduate research being undertaken at CSU Aparri.

A LEGACY IN EMERALD: CSUA HONORS DR. MOLINA'S 40 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE

Cagayan State University Aparri Campus paid tribute to the remarkable career and unwavering dedication of Prof. Lenimfa P. Molina, PhD, Campus Research, Development and Extension (RDE) Director and Knowledge and Technology Management (KTM) Coordinator, during her retirement program held on June 24, 2026.

Carrying the theme “A Legacy in Emerald: Years of Service, A Lifetime of Inspiration,” the event celebrated Dr. Molina’s four decades of invaluable contributions to the university and the academic community. University and Campus Officials, Office Heads, colleagues, friends, and family members gathered to honor her distinguished career and recognize the lasting impact of her service.

The program featured heartfelt messages and tributes from colleagues who shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude for Dr. Molina’s mentorship, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

Speakers highlighted her significant role in advancing research, extension, and knowledge management initiatives, as well as her dedication to nurturing professional growth among faculty and staff.

Adding significance to the occasion was the presence of Dr. Ricardo B. Casauay, Faculty Regent, who joined the university community in recognizing Dr. Molina’s achievements and years of service. His attendance underscored the importance of honoring educators and administrators whose contributions have helped shape the institution’s growth and success.

Family members of Dr. Molina were also present during the celebration, making the event even more meaningful as they witnessed the outpouring of appreciation and admiration from the CSU community.
