𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 | DOLE sets pay rules for Eid’l Fitr

Workers can expect holiday pay as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued Labor Advisory No. 4, Series of 2026, prescribing the pay guidelines for employees who will report for work on March 20 in observance of Eid’l Fitr, declared a regular holiday under Proclamation No. 1189, Series of 2026.

According to the advisory, employees who will not report to work shall receive 100% of their wage that day, provided they are on approved leave of absence on the day immediately preceding the regular holiday (basic wage x 100%).

If the day immediately preceding the regular holiday is a non-working day in the establishment or the employee’s scheduled rest day, they shall still be entitled to holiday pay if they worked or were on approved leave of absence with pay on the day immediately preceding the non-working day or rest day.

Meanwhile, employees who render work during the regular holiday shall receive 200% of their wage for the first eight hours (basic wage x 200%).

Work performed beyond eight hours shall be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on that day (hourly rate of the basic wage x 200% x 130% x number of hours worked).

If the regular holiday also falls on the employee’s rest day and work is rendered, they shall be paid an additional 30% of the basic wage of 200% (basic wage x 200% x 130%). Overtime work on the same condition shall likewise be paid with an additional 30% of the hourly rate on the said day (hourly rate of the basic wage x 200% x 130% x 130% x number of hours worked).

The Department reminded employers to comply with the prescribed pay rules to ensure the proper payment of wages for employees during declared holidays.

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝟏 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐒𝐎 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭

To celebrate the dedication and hard work of Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) and Job Placement Offices (JPOs) in facilitating employment opportunities, providing labor market information, and implementing various employment programs that benefit the community, DOLE RO1 honored top-performing PESOs and JPOs during the 4th SIKAT PESO Awards Night on February 26, 2025, at PROXY Plus by the Oriental Pangasinan, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

In her opening remarks, Director IV Honorina Dian-Baga reminded PESO Managers and Job Placement Officers that, “What we give doesn’t always return, but what we give is always what we are.” She emphasized that their service is a reflection of their innate character. “Natural sa inyo ang pagtulong at pagkalinga sa ating mga kababayan. Hindi kayo narito para sa parangal, kundi dahil may misyon kayo, and that is to make a difference sa buhay ng ating mga kababayan.”

DOLE RO1 Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman expressed his deep appreciation for PESOs and Job Placement Officers in his message, saying, “Words cannot fully express how much we value your services and your contributions to DOLE’s mandate and to the Filipino nation. Tonight, we recognize top-performing PESOs and JPOs, share best practices, and encourage everyone to do even better than last year. Continue collaborating with us, DOLE cannot stand alone, and neither can PESOs and JPOs. Together, we advance our mission to elevate employment services in Region 1, promote a culture of excellence, and ensure that every Filipino family has access to productive and dignified employment opportunities. We thank all of you for your continuous dedication to serve with dignity and integrity.”

The awarding ceremony was led by DOLE RO1 Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman, alongside Director IV Honorina Dian-Baga, OIC TSSD Head Susan G. Maynes, and Region 1 PESO Federation President Shey Pia G. Abaya, as they conferred plaques and certificates to outstanding PESO Managers and Job Placement Officers.

A total of 191 awards were given in recognition of PESO Managers' contributions to DOLE's major employment programs, including PES, NSRP, CDSP, SPES, GIP, JobStart, LMI, DILP, TUPAD, Job Fair, Local Recruitment Assistance, CLPEP and Special citations on Establishment of BESOs, Digital Innovation, Exemplary Reporting, Rookie PESO of the Year, High Performing PESO/JPO, PESO Leadership Awards and Kabuhayan Empowerment. The night also honored retirees, and rookie PESO Managers.

Cash prizes were also awarded to the Stars of the Night in both the Male and Female categories.

This year marked the fourth anniversary of the SIKAT PESO Awards, a recognition program honoring our PESO and JPO partners for their dedication and excellence. Salamat sa Inisyatiba, Kahusayan, Aktibong Pagtugon, at Tapat na Serbisyo!

We salute all awardees for their commitment, which continues to inspire a stronger and more inclusive workforce.
