The Local Government Unit of Aritao proudly joined the celebration of the National Disability Rights Week on July 22, 2026, at the Aritao Municipal Plaza, embracing this year's theme: “Rights First, Legislation Forward – Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development.”
Spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) under the leadership of Marlon A. Guzman, RSW, the celebration reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to upholding the rights, welfare, and dignity of every person with disability.
The program was graced by the presence of our municipal officials led by Hon. Remelina Peros-Galam, Municipal Mayor, and featured an inspiring message from Hon. Aura Bless Crisel Galindez, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, who emphasized the importance of creating a more inclusive and compassionate community for all.
The event was attended by SPED learners of Aritao and their dedicated teachers, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) together with their federation presidents, and other valued members of the community.
Among the highlights of the celebration were:
✨ Awarding of Educational Supplies to SPED learners
✨ Distribution of Assistive Devices to PWDs and senior citizens
✨ Awarding of Livelihood Assistance to PWDs, and womens
✨ Serbisyong Pangmasa para sa May Kapansanan, which provided free haircuts, massage, manicure, and pedicure services by service providers.
As we celebrate National Disability Rights Week, may we continue to break barriers, promote equal opportunities, and build a society where everyone is empowered to thrive regardless of ability. Together, let us champion inclusion, respect, and accessibility for all. 🩷
